Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Maybe we should be thinking about new jerseys? Some sort of fabric that breathes better?
I thought they got the dazzle crap because it breathes better? Maybe they should go to the Reebok stuff that all the NHL teams use. Though, that is probably out of Tech's budget.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

scram the dazzle and wear real sweaters. with strips.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Lets just change away from the Huskies, and become the Fighting Ojibwa! More publicity for being non-PC!
We could go the way of Fairbanks and use the Ojibwe word for Losers? Too harsh? :p

The Chicago Wolves only used this logo on one hat it sold years ago, maybe something along these lines?

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Pass. It looks like a cartoon-y minor league logo, not a college logo. Besides, unless it's is half-wolf mutt, a husky is not a particularly fierce/snarly breed.

scram the dazzle and wear real sweaters. with strips.

Yes, and bring back the ancient 'MCM' script logo from the 20s. C'mon, we're dorky enough for this. :D

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

OK, I've been too negative lately. So let's try to look at the positives of this season:

-Despite nagging injuries, Gordic somehow found a way to score 15 goals and add 6 assists. As a redshirt freshman. Could we get him 100% healthy for a full year please?

-For a true freshman, Furne was no slouch either with 12 goals and 9 assists.

-Johnstone seemed to cool off a bit as the year wore on, but he also had a respectable 4-15-19 line in his first season.

-McCadden: This guy will likely become the next Batty. A Draper-type player who will probably never put up more than 15 greasy points a year, but will win draws and hopefully play a big role in getting the PK back in order.

-Seigo: Breaking the 20-point threshold next season, hopefully.

-Rix and Gubb also have some potential

I can't really comment on any of the other defensemen without having actually seen the team live more than twice.

The goalies...not sure anyone but the second comings of Tony O or Ellsworth would've done much better this year.

Finally, a big thank you to Cousens and Royer for four years of sticking it out through probably the worst injury plague in program history. Thanks also for putting up with us, the fans (or at least, what's left of us).

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Maybe Maturi was afraid that Tech would go after tDon, and that's the reason behind tDon's extension. ;)

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

I knew that if a change was to be made, this is how it would go down.

Thanks for your efforts, Coach Russell, and good luck in the future.

DMG now copying on the story and screaming the headline.

Wow, I had been monitoring michigantechhuskies.com all week and started to think he'd be back next year.

Jamie did have a great passion to have success at Tech, unfortunately it didn't happen.

Hopefully some of the things he started to implement like the trip to Europe and recruiting in Europe will continue.

Also wodner what it means for Damon Whitten that he wasnt' mentioned in this article like Mikesch was.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

I'm gonna miss the guy. I only met him once but he was very nice.

I wish the very best for him and his family.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Jamie is a class act and that is what I will miss about him. It is just too bad that it didn't work out for him, I wish it would have worked out for Jamie to be the coach long term. In the end, it is probably a good thing to move in a new direction, I just hope that the powers that be make the right decision on the next coach, because the direction of the entire program is going to be determined in the next few years re:conference realignment.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Jamie Russell and Pat Mikesch have brought so much to the Tech hockey program. they are great guys and great family men and great Tech boosters. unfortunately the wins weren't there. I may go cry for a bit.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Well, dare I say it, considering how long one serious Fooper on here has had an itchy trigger finger...

You may now name/speculate on candidates everyone.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Time to annoint the next sacrificial lamb. And if he tops .5oo once in the next five years, that will be an accomplishment. Russell was a class act all the way and Pat was too. Best wishes to them all.
