Too bad we dumped Mikesch. He might have been able to get us a deal on franchising their logo here in the states. He spent more than enough time in their uniforms to make connections for us.

But in all seriousness, maybe a new coach will shake things up a bit. I hope they do. Jamie had no intensions of straying from the tried and true "script Huskies" jerseys. When you are a team with as much history as Tech that can be good, but it also stops you from being creative at times and you call it tradition, while others call it a rut. I had suggested a metallic / dazzle material copper colored jersey to Jamie with the old MCM logos, black / silver striping, as a great throwback and way to honor the local history, but he was pretty set on keeping things as they were when it came to the uniforms. I though it would have looked pretty sharp with black pants / gloves / helmets, etc, but that's just me.

There are plenty of teams just in the WCHA with very traditional designs (WI, MN, etc), but even they change it up from time to time. A couple of my favorite "specials" are below.

These MN jerseys are lined with felt! I bet the players just loved wearing them...

It was over 10 years before I first saw one of these jerseys in the public domain. They must have hid them in shame for the first decade...

I had suggested a metallic / dazzle material copper colored jersey to Jamie with the old MCM logos, black / silver striping, as a great throwback and way to honor the local history, but he was pretty set on keeping things as they were when it came to the uniforms.

That was a great suggestion Ryan J but too bad Jamie Russell who doesn't know jack squat about local history wasn't interested. Maybe the new coach would be open to your suggestion and maybe if they don't want them permanently they could have them made and wear them for one game and auction them off for charity or something. This team needs to get reconnected to a community that used to care about them.

Are we seriously having a jersey argument again?

Last I checked, copper was not part of Michigan Tech's traditional colors of gold and silver, nor our athletic colors of black and gold.

The script Huskies is here to stay, as it should be. The only 'throwback' I might like to see is the actual 1920s-style knit sweaters with the 'MCM' logo. It would be hilariously nerdy just to do that for one game. Other than that, the last thing I want to see is Tech fcking around with their jerseys every 2-3 years like some Sun Belt NHL team. Dropping several thousand dollars on new jerseys is not going to increase fan interest; winning is.

Wear the 1975 jerseys during the Winter Carnival games and recognize the players from the championship season at the games.

Yes good PR and community involvement are essential. And $12 for kids is crazy. If free isn't an option then charge them $1. Isn't tomorrow the day they'll announce the new coach? I thought someone told us to bank that. Tuesday the earliest and Thursday the latest. Friday is the circus.
