Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

My cousin played college hockey. He graduated in 2005 from Northern Michigan. He was a goaltender by the name of Craig Kowalski. He was a Hobey Baker nominee, US World Junior goaltender and was signed by the Carolina Hurricanes as a high schooler.
Yeah well Teslak was a Hobey Baker canaidate, too. Looks like Craig is doing just as well.

Wow, well it certainly was long. I mean did the guy ever study writing? However maybe there were a few points that could be addressed.
He's right that a lot of athletes do not improve their times in college. But so what, they gain weight, they discover beer, and getting that faster time is not so important any longer. Happens to a lot of people. I guess also that it is of concern when some of our athletes don't seem to care about their programs success.
I did read the whole thing thinking maybe he had some point in mind, but really he never got to it. And he's bragging about Livonia?. Please.

Haha, I know that guy. I lived down the hall from him. For any of the current Tech students (like Ross), he is part of "The Team". And he is also kind of a bitch. He is also in the ROTC program if I remember correctly.
Well you know now somebody is going to have to show him his post here.

I love how he ripped on the 3.0 GPA as if the vast majority of employers actually care about anything north of a 3.5. There's nothing wrong with a B average, and the saying is "Gentleman's C", dumba55.

Oh yeah, I remember him. He loved the sausage.

When was Teslak a Hobey Baker candidate? That's right, never was.

You're thinking of Jamie Ram in the early 90s. The goalie of record, the last time MTU had home ice for the playoffs AND had 17 wins in one season... *sigh*

Heck, I know a kid who purposely lost his 4.0 because he read that many employers view them as overly smart/robotic and avoid hiring them.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

It should be mentioned that Craig Kowalski was mentioned in Sports Illustrated recently -- getting scored on with the Nottingham team in the British Elite League (look for the story about two months ago about the Belfast Giants).

And as for the letter a few pages back - that was full of some remarkable ignorance on a lot of fronts. Don't want to get into the fray too much, but I'll offer one big nugget of reminder. The track at Sherman is nary a track at all, as the corners had to be taken out for the fieldturf football field.

Now the MTU thread is turning into a NMU thread. The NMU thread already turned into MTU thread. So why not.

Speaking of NMU........now that this is a NMU thread........do any of you kids remember the Alibi? *sigh* Good times.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Speaking of NMU an offer of some sort has been extended to Jacques from Calumet.

You know how I know that I work in houghton? In my two hour shift, I got two phone numbers.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

MNS told me about that letter Saturday night. Hopefully a deer goes through his windshield on his way home. (not MNS's, the dumbass that wrote the letter's)

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

...aren't the kids on the Tech track team actually recruited for Nordic Skiing? Maybe if athletes are actually recruited for that sport, the results might be better.

There are so many other points I'd like to hit on in that letter, but my brain can no longer process them correctly after reading that drivel.

A good friend of mine was on the track team, and she just walked on and did it for fun.
