Wow, I'm impressed this came from you. :D

...aren't the kids on the Tech track team actually recruited for Nordic Skiing? Maybe if athletes are actually recruited for that sport, the results might be better.

There are so many other points I'd like to hit on in that letter, but my brain can no longer process them correctly after reading that drivel.

There are a decent number who only do track. It's xc and skiing that's all the same.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

A good friend of mine was on the track team, and she just walked on and did it for fun.

Gotcha. FM told me otherwise, but since none of them play hockey, I should have known he wouldn't have known what he was talking about. ;)

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread I: Not Winning and the ensuing drama.

Leave it to a former Michigan Tech player to botch a penalty shot in the stanley cup playoffs. :( never thought I'd see Chris Conner do something like that.

So let's run down Tech's national exposure this year, shall we?

- Kevin Genoe allows a 190 foot goal that makes Sportscenter and registers 250K YouTube hits in one week.
- John Scott is John Scott.
- Chris Conner brutalizes a penalty shot in the Stanley Farking Cup Playoffs.

...and we wonder why we have recruiting problems.

In Connors defense, he did show great speed in getting behind the defense and forcing the penalty shot...

And as for the letter a few pages back - that was full of some remarkable ignorance on a lot of fronts. Don't want to get into the fray too much, but I'll offer one big nugget of reminder. The track at Sherman is nary a track at all, as the corners had to be taken out for the fieldturf football field.
Yeah, its been a while since I've been up there, before the turf was put in, but yeah, it really wasnt much of a track there.

As long as there's not a honking crown on the field with a good foot of a drop off on the endzone corners to the track, it can't be the worst field in the league.

The addition of the turf made quite the change as it is large enough to play soccer on for the women's program

And soccer is guaranteed to make the university more money than track ever will. Even if it's only women's soccer.

"Luckily" it was highlighted again in a feature spot on PTI today... *sigh* Honestly, I've seen far worse. He just caught a bad spot in the ice. It happens all the time but in this case there were only two players on the ice. It wasn't like it was the end of the OT where the ice has been redone down the middle.

Anyway, let's just get a coach and the rest will take care of itself.

Could it be possible that suzanne is heading for the convention tomorrow morning? Might be something happening there I would think.

This show opens in Detroit in January right after GLI and goes to Minneapolis in February.
One of the best musicals I have seen in a long time. Right from the beginning It's Very high energy and there is so much going on it's hard to watch half of it. It is loud though so be ready if you go.

So are these conventions like recruting / job fairs where the coaches looking to get hired have piles of cheap "Made in China" trinkets embossed with their names? Then ADs and GMs of teams needing coaches walk past and grab one and throw them in their bag? If so, I hope Suzanne comes back with a bag full of cool shiney stuff to sift through this week when she is back in the office. And it is it also like a job fair where everyone goes to the Dean Blais table and takes his trinkets, even though there is no chance he will work for them?

Just wondering...

Great questions Ryan J. Personally I would take one of these squeeze coin purses from every canidate's table:
