Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

Speaking of jersey's. I saw the team play in black for the first time this last year and I hated it. I'm not suggesting they get rid of the black but I'd like it to be redesigned and I'd like to see at least two new jerseys as well. Some variant of the gold, or silver,... and I'd like to see them wear gold a heck of a lot more than they do now.
I hope that a kid that sees us for the first time goes wow, who are those guys.! Plus to be honest it's a smart marketing move. Just as long as it's not mustard color, like some other teams around.

I'd rather said kid be impressed with our ability to score goals and beat someone. I'm hoping that'll be the case in a few years, instead of yet another jersey rotation. :p

I'd love to have Mel go back to the classic jerseys worn in his playing days. A white one and a gold one. They could use black for a 3rd jersey. But that last set of jerseys they've worn...way too busy!

Right now they are going with the same set for this season. However, who knows for next.

I'd be surprised if the road blacks weren't here to stay. I could see a throwback to home golds one of these years though.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

I'm all for an alternate jersey as long as the team thinks outside the box. We don't need another gold jersey with "Huskies" on the front as an alternate. We've already had that for decades. Just changing the body color of the jersey you already have is not an alternate unless you are one of the morons that does jersey design in the NHL.
Jersey Rep: "Yes, so what we've done here is taken the jersey you already have and made with black material. We call it an "alternate".
NHL Owner: "Wow, that is really unique and different. Let's go with that option..."

Almost 100 years of hockey history and 125+ years of MTU history there has to some something better they can come up with for an alternate. I've always thought something that used the copper history of the area as a theme would be great. Put some gears or the Quincy #2 on the shoulders, use some metallic copper or silver colors in the jersey with black, there are a thousand new ways they could go. Please not a retread design... Even the Red Wings got something new for the Winter Classic and the Habs really brought back a ton of retro styles for their 100th season(s). Even old classics can benifit from something fresh once in a while.

Is it just me, or is the whole MTU athletics site off-line today?

Good to see on the Michiagn Tech Huskies facebook page. I wasn't sure at first if all the suites would sell when we're talking $4k-$5k a year, but it looks like they're not having a problem.

Hockey suite leases are sold out for the year and single game rentals are half sold out as of today! If you're thinking about renting a hockey suite for a game, you better move quickly, this is the fastest they've ever sold!

I was just about to post that. I guess the Pearson hire has some of the local yokels buzzing.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

I just got something in the Mail from Michigan Tech...
Page 2:
Recent Huskies' successes are too numerous to mention, but here are a few-
- Student-athletes' cumulative GP during 2010-11 was 3.18
- The new women's soccer team got its first win in front of 1,300 fans and led the GLIAC in home attendance
- Men's basketball head coach Kevin Luke recorded his 300th win
- Nordic skiers Malin Eriksson and Mikko Harju qualified for the NCAA Championships
.......
- Finally, new head hockey coach Mel Pearson pledges to return the team to winning ways.

I found that quite funny for "successes"

I got some propaganda from tech today too. I just tossed it, figuring they were just asking for money again.
