Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

So is a "Tech Win" like someone who is "Tech Hot?" If we lose by less than 2 goals, its a win? Then I could see 15 "Tech Wins"

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

I haven't posted here before but I'll put my 2 cents in. I've seen what a difference a coach can make just in attitude, discipline and work ethic. Allowing the players to be creative will help. Add in some new skaters with potential and count on a reduction in injuries and you have the recipe for a much improved season. I predict an overall record close to 500.

I agree a new coach can add some wins but he only has to much to work with. What makes you think the injury bug will be less? It seems other think many of the injuries are because of previous staff. Any reasons why?

Do you think tMEL really knows his team already?

Did someone say something? I can't hear anything above the sweet bubbling of the kool-aid fountains. :)

Remember when I predicted that Huskies Live would go up in price this year?

$69.95 for the year, up about $15 I believe.

I plan to pick it up again after a one-year absence - I hope the camera was actually upgraded.

It was 59.95 last year.

Any other Huskies Live subscribers out there get the email notice that it will expire in the next 30 days and is set to automatically renew at the same price as last year, $59.95?

I logged in the other day to see if there was any archived games. The only one was a soccer game from last week, it looked exactly the same. So if they've made video quality upgrades it must only be for the hockey arena.

I don't really feel that last years injuries had anything to do with staff shortcomings. I just think it's unlikely that the team will experience so many injuries two years in a row;odds are in our favor.

I doubt if Mel knows the team yet, but being the savy, experienced coach that he is I'm sure he'll have a full grasp of things by the time that Wisconsin rolls into town.

There was a suggestion in this forum that some of us have been drinking the Koolaid and to that I plead guilty. It's been a long dry spell, much too long. I've been following Tech hockey for over forty years and Mel has the most potential of any coach we've had since John M. Newell Brown probably would have turned things around had he stayed, but he came in a young, up and coming coach whereas Mel already has the pedigree. I have no doubt that we'll see a different team on the ice this year. Get ready to enjoy the journey............

Regarding the picture quality, I was told that there was a bottleneck in the system last year that prevented the digital signal from getting transmitted and that this bottleneck was being removed and changed to a digital piece of equipment. The camera etc have been digital for a while apparently.

as far as wins, I'm an optimist, often too much so, but I can see winning 8 at least, maybe 10 or 12. If they play really well more but it would mean a really huge improvement and I just don't see anything like that. Incremental improvement yes.

I received the same email. The renewal price quoted was $59.95.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

I had to think where I could post this to capture the most people that would get it.

I ended up here.

Watching "Mad Men," and there was a quote, a quote that I HAD to rewind because I spit out my drink because it was so inside-joke hilarious....

"Didja hear? BBDL hired another colored kid."

I completely lost it.

Official practice starts on Thursday I think, when are we moving to a season thread?

Also, it looks like we have a different volunteer goalie coach this season, former Michigan goalie, Steve Shields.

Looks good to have an NHL goaltender with over 100 games experience on your roster.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason III: Two Years To Prove It Can Be Done

Anyone following INCH's A to Z this season? They are to M and haven't brought up a Tech Husky yet. Any guesses who they will feature? I'm guessing its Pearson since they did a lot of the other new coaches. If its a player, the only ones left that I could see featured are Brett Olson, Blake Pietila, or Steven Seigo but Seigo was featured last year...
