Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

Stupid question here that I'll admit I'm too lazy to look up... How are Tech and LSSU playing a game a day before the first official practices for many schools? Is Tech practicing this week?

I think Mel said in his interview that coaches are allowed on the ice with the team for 2 hours a week . . . so they spent 1/2 hour on the ice for 4 days this week.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

WCHA broadcast info is now up. Season pass went up to $160, monthly increased to $50, day pass $12 and playoff day pass is $15. There is also a tournament pass for $60.
I checked with the provider; there will be VOD option for the length of subscription you purchase, all season passes include all games including Final 5. They also said if you purchase a monthly subscription prior to February 15th this would include access to the playoffs. Obviously if you purchase after February 15th the playoffs would fall in your month any way.

Have you tried signing up? I did and my charge was immediately blocked by my bank because it was being processed in Cyprus.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

They aren't, the first game between LSSU and MTU is on the first day of official practice (Saturday). They are currently practicing under the same rules as every other school (except UAA and UA_), with basically Captain's practice with limited instruction from the coaches.

I wrongly assumed they started playing on Friday. Good to know.

I've been thinking about this for quite some time and I'm not as close to Houghton as many, so it's just my wild *** guess but..

Petan, Pietila, Sturos
Johnstone Kero L'esperance
Eick Neville Steman
Heinonen Anderson Baltus

Defense. Watson hanna
Sweeney Davis
Leibinger Hyland

travelers, roy, Heitala.

on the bubble. Vallis, Blacklock, Auk

Interesting combos, after what Mel said in the interview we will not see the all freshman line until mid season.

I now think this will be the lineup on Saturday??

Heinonen Kero. Petan
Johnstone Pietila L' Esperance
Gillies Anderson Sturos
Eick Neville Gould

Watson. Hanna
Auk Sweeney
Leibinger. Roy

Travelers
F: Vallis
D: Hyland

G: Philips
Kero

I wanted to give this a try, but I don't remember what wing these guys play. This is my guess:
Johnstone, Kero , Petan
Eick, Pietila, Sturos
L’Esperance, Neville, Heinonen
Gould, Steman, E. Anderson

Available interchangeable parts:
Hietala
Baltus
Blacklock
Gillies
In case of injuries break glass:
P. Anderson
Vallis

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason 2014: Nothing To Say

That was really funny.

UAH has more D-I tournament berths in the last 20 years than all three programs combined (and two D-II national titles to boot). But, you know, there's the matter of quality of competition ...

GFM <— unless you account for the fact that UAH then held both #1 seeds to one-goal games that were tight

i'm not aware of any Tech fans that flaunt the national titles that in most cases were won before they were born. at least I don't.

That's more of a Michigan thing... most of their success was in the 1950s but they love to talk up all the titles they've won.
For 22 straight years, they had a 1 in 16 chance (up until 2003 a 1 in 12 chance) at winning a championship and they captured a grand total of TWO.

For comparison, a few who have made the most of their opportunities:

60% -- 6 in 10 Michigan (1948 - 1957)
33% -- 3 in 10 LSSU
33% -- 3 in 10 MTU
29% -- 7 in 24 Denver
25% -- 1 in 4 Union
24% -- 7 in 29 UND
23% -- 6 in 26 Wisconsin
22% -- 2 in 9 RPI
17% -- 1 in 6 Yale
---
8% -- 2 in 25 Michigan (1958 - Present)
5% -- 1 in 21 Harvard
0% -- 0 in 20 Clarkson
0% -- 0 in 22 UNH
