Michigan Tech needs a new coach, what do you say Cary Eades?

Re: Michigan Tech needs a new coach, what do you say Cary Eades?

I'm sure she is back at it this week. However I'd expect that the secrecy will be improved this time.

Also you have to understand, Houghton is wayyyy better than anywhere in North Dakota all summer. And it's warmer all year. North Dakota really has nothing on the yuup as far as environment. Though dirty is right in a way, from the outside it looks dumpy especially in the winter. Course Grand Forks is dumpy too, just not as dumpy.

I hate to use facts here, especially in the land of delusion that is Michigan Tech fans, but Grand Forks is warmer than Houghton from April-October.

Thanks for the trophy BOH, maybe if they ask nicely the Sioux players will allow the Husky players to touch it next year! Do Tech players know what a trophy feels like?

being a godforsaken desert, there are no happy mediums in the wastelands of North Dakota.

I don't know about the rest of the people in this thread but I'll take the lower temp in the warm months, and warmer temps in the cold months...you just proved why weather in Houghton is better than Grand Forks.

I wasn't saying anything about the where the weather was better, I was simply showing that manurespreader doesn't know what he is talking about. Not a real big surprise, I know.

I guess he should rephrase to Houghton's climate is more comfortable all year long compared to Grand Forks.

Re: Michigan Tech needs a new coach, what do you say Cary Eades?

I lived in Dickinson.
I live in Dickinson. I've already seen green this spring. It isn't that hard to find. And the badlands are spectacular. If you like the outdoors, this is actually a great place to live. :)

I wouldn't trade North Dakota summers for any other summer anywhere. I've lived lots of places all over the US, and have yet to find a place with better summers.

Here's how I see the people you have:

Eades, Larson, Guentzel, Gibbons, Pooley & Cole: would be strong candidates, but do they want the job?
Carlson, Hartzell, Montgomery, Patrick, Rud: their teams are still in the USHL playoff, would have to wait unti they are done for on campus interviews. Of these, I think Rud and Patrick are the strongest candidates.
Rolston has no interest in coming back to Houghton.
I think Coghlin would be good if he is interested, especially if he can bring along Mazzoleni as an assistant.
Serratorre: is he interested, and can he get out of his AFA contract? Is Tech willing to buy him out at Air Force?
Markell: has very likely applied and he does believe he could win at Tech.

Am I missing anybody that you think is a strong candidate?

I think you have them pretty much nailed.

I also see the Penn State situation also as a bit of a Wild Card. If Sandelin goes to Penn State, it is likely that Larson either goes along or moves up to the top spot in Duluth. Rohlik would also be a top candidate in Duluth.

I certainly can't see any Anastos type, outta left field candidates here.

I agree with that...Larson and Rohlik would be the top of UMD's list if Sandelin runs off to the B1G Mistake Conference.

Sounds like Penn State is cheap even after they received $88 mil?

Tell your Nokota players to skate the WCHA trophy around the arena and give it the respect it deserves the next time they win one. Leaving it on the ice didn't turn out so well, did it... :p

To be fair, the $88 mil wasn't given to penn state to go drop $300k+ on a coach. They can get a perfectly capable coach for $150-200k/year. Michigan Tech is in a different position, trying to stay relevant in this sea of change. Penn State has their place...more than likely their first coach will not succeed anyway because of the wonderful B1G Mistake competition they will have to deal with.

Again, to be fair, parading the trophy around the last few times the Sioux have won Big Jim's Cup hasn't worked either...can't really fault them for trying something different.

Re: Michigan Tech needs a new coach, what do you say Cary Eades?

Why do people think that Frank Serretore wants to leave the AFA? I know that he would be a great coach at most schools, but after he was relieved of duty at DU, why leave some place that is happy as a pig in slop with his results but doesn't hang a NC over his head. Plus, leave Colorado Spings for ??? I would say that if MN came knocking on his door, there "might" be a slight chance, but I don't see him leaving until he's ready to retire.

Also, should Brian Renfrew from Michigan State be on the list? Just curious...

nobody thinks that. This is just a list of coaches who have been mentioned that Tech might make an offer to, like they did w/ Pearson.
