I'm telling you this Michigan Head Coaching gig is going to turn out like the Tonight Show. (Red=Leno, Mel=Conan).

Yes very well could. What I've read and heard Mel is/was not the expected heir to that throne, maybe it changed.

Mel is starting to look like Herb Boxer v2.0. When I was at Tech, everyone said Boxer and Nahrgang really ran the team. I bet when Red retires, U of M hockey will tank just like MTU did when MacInnes retired. If Mel is smart, he'll retire when Red retires...

So what's the latest from the Paint Shop? While you're there, please ask them if it is safe to paint modern latex interior house paint over old oil-based paint or will have to prime it first with Kilz?

It always best to prime it first with a multipurpose stain blocking primer, not necessarily Kilz. They aren't the only ones on the market, also there is multiple kinds of Kilz primer, just like that of any other brand.

The original creator of this thread has it right. If it is not Mel, as appears to be the case, your President, AD, and a suitcase full of money should be enroute to Grand Forks. Cary Eades can recruit, coach, and sell a program to the fans. It may take three or four years, but the results would be worth the wait.

Is Eades even intrested in MTU? Yes or No

Has Eades been pursued by MTU's AD or by tech hockey alumni?

Does he even want to be a head coach or does he want to be like Mel and be assistant coach?

Re: Michigan Tech needs a new coach, what do you say Cary Eades?

Interesting questions for once ;)
Is Eades even intrested in MTU? Yes or No
I'm gonna have to guess Yes
Has Eades been pursued by MTU's AD or by tech hockey alumni?
If I count as alumni, than Yes
Does he even want to be a head coach or does he want to be like Mel and be assistant coach?
Once again, I'm gonna have to guess Yes

Tim, if Tech ends up hiring Eades I'll vote for you in the next presidential election as a man who knows how to get things done.

Re: Michigan Tech needs a new coach, what do you say Cary Eades?

If they really did offer Blais $300,000 then I don't see why they couldn't make a nice offer to Eades, assuming he is still "allegedly interested" in the job and Suzanne is also "allegedly interested" in hiring him. Would he look at being second-choice over Pearson as an insult or a sign that Tech wouldn't be committed to him?

I don't think it would matter. I suspect a candidate with no prior ties to tInstitution would see the job as a stepping-stone anyway. Of course there's the huge bonus that he would get to leave North Dakota. We should point that out and offer him less than he makes now.

I can't see how anyone not connected to Michigan Tech could take offense to being #2 behind Mel Pearson for the Tech job. They have to understand that Tech would try hard to get Pearson and bring back a former player (under MacInnes), former assistant and current assistant at one of the top programs in the country. From what I gather, now that Mel (and Blais to a lesser extent) have declined, the search is wide open and Cary Eades should be on the top of the list.

But, he'd be going to the UP which is a big step down, so you'd have to up it back to more than what he's making anyway...;)

I don't buy the Blais offer, I think they would have gone to Mel first. If a guy feels insulted by being after Mel then is that a guy you really want? Did Suzanne and the powers that be learn enough as to what is lacking?

Very likely that Mel gets passed over at UM for Cole at a later date. At least that is their rumor.

But we can introduce him to things like trees, and hills. Can you imagine his sense of wonder!
