Michigan Tech Huskies at St. Cloud State Huskies: Eyeing the Finish Line

Re: Michigan Tech Huskies at St. Cloud State Huskies: Eyeing the Finish Line

If MTU sweeps, I'll give my spare bottle of Ommegang XV away at the F5 in a drawing. FTR, I've hit 20 stores and have 2 bottles. So yes, it's a real prize.

If MTU gets 2 points, I will wear an MTU jersey on a MN Gopher gameday, which is a sin in my book.

If MTU gets 1 point, I'll smile and clap.

Edit: the drawing will only be eligible to SCSU/MTU fans. ID may be required.

I beg your pardon? Ommegang xv??? What kind of elitist sh*t is that? Conversely, if it is some kind of popular new sodi pop it just proves that I live in a cave with my wall of records and ( nod to Koho ) vcr tapes...Tech sweeps

Re: Michigan Tech Huskies at St. Cloud State Huskies: Eyeing the Finish Line

I didn't realize SCSU was wearing blacks. I guess there's a chance then. I would still expect whites, but who knows. It would be great if they both wore blacks.
this weekend already has some of my favorite things: Salty food (Val's), Unique Drinks (Buffaloes) and Throwback jerseys.

Re: Michigan Tech Huskies at St. Cloud State Huskies: Eyeing the Finish Line

This is the scenario for the Huskies to win it outright. However, since no other team can clinch it this weekend, there's no reason for the MacNaughton to be anywhere BUT St. Cloud on Saturday night. So, if Denver can take ONE game from UMN, if Sconnie can snag a point from UNO, if BSU can snag a point from UND (least likely), and if SCSU can take care of business against Tech, then the Huskies WILL celebrate with the Cup on Saturday night. For me personally, depending on how Friday night turns out, I plan to be there Saturday night to see it!

If the Gophers win Friday night, the Huskies cannot clinch this weekend and it should stay at Mariucci Saturday night. I am sure they will wait until after Friday's games to decide whether or not to move it. Why would MN have to give it up before Friday because a team might be able to clinch it on Saturday?

The Huskies can still clinch a share of it Saturday night if the Gophers lose (regardless of the outcome on Friday).

Of course, because there's a chance St. Cloud could lose on Friday.

Why would MN have to give it up before Friday because a team might be able to clinch it on Saturday?
I don't know that they'd HAVE to give it up, but if there's a chance that any singular team can clinch a share of the Cup on a given night, it'd be in the best interest of the WCHA to have the Cup in attendance for video and photo opportunities.

Re: Michigan Tech Huskies at St. Cloud State Huskies: Eyeing the Finish Line

Tech tends to play to the level of their opponent and can play better than their record suggests.
I think SCSU has an 50% chance of sweeping, a 40% chance of splitting and a 10% chance of getting swept.

I was spot on last week while you and your buddies were already celebrating your sweep, or can't you read?
Oooh, spot on once? Good for you.

Speaking of reading, why would I call Jan Jan if I was a Jan fan? :p

Since 1998, Tech is 0-18-2 in the NHC.
Don't think those percentages are accurate.

Some Yooper love in that article too. I didn't know that one of the key "godfathers" of SCSU hockey was a yooper before reading that over lunch.
I also smiled when they mentioned the sweep that Tech put on SCSU back in the day taking the weekend series by a combined 33-0 goal differential. I think our record in St Cloud over the last 10+ years is just evening this out me thinks.

I didn't realize SCSU was wearing blacks... It would be great if they both wore blacks.
I would pay good money to see that game. It should be a military tribute night with free night vision goggles to all who attend and the game will be played with 25% lighting. Good luck to the goalies... unless they use the Fox-Trax pucks and they give the goalies goggles that pick up the TV feed.

Yeah, because college hockey doesn't involve turnover or changes in coaches, Mel Pearson hasn't coached Michigan Tech in St. Cloud yet. MTU won all four games vs St. Cloud during the 1998-99 season and their wins in St. Cloud happen in November 1998. Since that 1998-99 season, Michigan Tech is 4-14-0 vs SCSU in Houghton. Before Mel took over (going 1-1-0 in Houghton last season), the Huskies had won 1 game since the 1998-99 season in regulation (home or away). We shall see what happens.

Of course we will, I just don't think there is a 40% chance that Tech comes out with a split, sorry.
You guys have 3 conference road wins and we have 3 conference home losses.
Sorry if I like our chances on a weekend we can or **** near can lock up the first conference title in school history.

Re: Michigan Tech Huskies at St. Cloud State Huskies: Eyeing the Finish Line

Both teams have a 50/50 shot at winning.

Well it's Tech...so more like 60/40 in our favor.

I agree with that...50/40/10 is a bit optimistic. I think the odds tech gets a win/tie is around 33%-40% though

Re: Michigan Tech Huskies at St. Cloud State Huskies: Eyeing the Finish Line

Let's put it this way: if I thought Tech had any chance at a sweep, no way would I put up a $20 bottle of limited beer in a one-way bet.
