Michigan Tech Huskies 2024-25 - OK MacNaughton, Stop Ducking Us

Plenty of players have developed under Joe. The issue is that we have recently taken in players who feel they deserve to be playing elsewhere for a bigger "name brand". The portal and its current "wild west" rules now give them that option, and of course it's encouraged by their agents.

That's the bigger issue given the way the portal works. Agents can persuade players to move to "better" opportunities. It might be debatable who it's better for in the long run.

Agreed. The problem is that some players think they have value over their actual value and they are bound for a disappointment of epic proportions, having said that, we need to be romancing the agents so they know us better and don't make wrong assumptions.

When you see players that are in the portal multiple times you know they don't understand their value. I think the agent perspective is based on gateway to higher levels and NIL money. CCHA schools have a big disadvantage in current landscape in my opinion.

UMD 3rd string goalie Klayton Knapp will transfer to Tech from UMD this fall, looking for playing time. It sounds like the plan is to carry all 4 goalies, so this would bump local Nathan Lee to #4 in the lineup.

Michigan Tech was revealed as a participant in the Desert Hockey Classic along with Air Force, Anchorage, and host Arizona State. That will be a tight turn from the GLI again, the games at Mullett are on the 2nd and 3rd of January after the GLI finishes on the 30th.

It was posted on the RPI Off Season thread today that Trevor Russell will play for RPI in 2025-26. Can someone post or give a link what type of injury kept him from playing last season?

Very similar schools. Small, good engineering colleges. Strong programs back in the day. But last time I was in Troy, it was a dump.

When was the last time you were in Troy? Troy is nothing like it was even 7-8 years ago. Lots of investment going on now. minus the 975 inches of snow and Michigan’s tech lack of $$ they are pretty similar. Sorta lol

To be fair, I can't imagine it was any dumpier than 90% of Hancock. Before the Mexican joint opened, the nicest bar in that town was probably the renovated Monte Carlo.

One big difference is that RPI is private and pricey - easterners love their 'Institutes'. 😛

I searched Tech Hockey Guide's Discord server, but I don't think anyone ever learned what his injury was.

Actually i think it was multiple injuries but it might have been the same particular area of the body.

Having grown up in the east and having classmates who went to RPI i think it is harder to get in, but once there the demands academically are very similar.

Having connections between MTU and RPI things are similar academically. Not sure its harder to get in, they do seem to have a wider pool of applicants whereas MTU is still mostly regional hence often that makes students do their own limits. Classes and a mix, I think MTU is more rigorous on the math

Facility wise its almost night and day. Tech should really play RPI and Union with NMU kind of a home and home
