<> Michigan Tech Huskies 2023-24: Is the MacNaughton coming home? <>

Hancock HS defenseman Todd Kilpela has given a verbal commitment to Tech. He's 16 and hasn't played Junior A yet, so the earliest he would arrive is 2026, more likely 2027.

Honestly, that was a winnable game which was largely lost due to puck possession time. Western's top guys were pretty clearly faster and stronger than ours. We lost too many faceoffs and didn't consistently make good decisions with the puck. By the time we tied it in the 3rd and forced OT, we just looked gassed.

Following the rapid addition of Ryan Manzella as a backfill for the injured Max Vayrynen (who would seemingly be done for the season with this move), Michigan Tech has also committed its first CHL player in the era of NIL - 20 year-old Michael Cicek of the WHL's Kelowna Rockets.

Was there another goalie injury yesterday or why did they switch goalies when the game was relatively close? Seems like an odd way to give the new goalie his first taste of college hockey.

Mullahy is fine, no injuries. Considering that an at-large bid is not in the cards, there wasn't any PairWise danger to worry about. No league points on the line either. I would think the major amount of time Manzella will get is going to be in relief, so not a bad way to manufacture a situation to see how he would respond.

One of my biggest worries is that we don't play teams that play a high tempo very often. it takes some getting used to. I don't think they are faster than us so much as we are just not used to the tempo. Now decisions with the puck,... another issue in which we take too much time to decide what to do. more up-tempo teams would speed up our game.
Third, we turn it over at the other teams' blue line too often and don't get it deep. Drives me nuts.

also, I really hope Leppa comes back after his surgery. I think it would benefit him to do so.
