The “cross check in the back” was the homer interpretation of two players being tied up and one of them falling across the goalie while holding a stick. If that was normally called a no-goal, goal scoring would be down by about 20-30%.
Seriously, you really think the league doesn't want anybody but MSU to win the regular-season title? If anything, it's to the league's advantage to have someone else win. I've watched that replay over and over again, and it looks like a deliberate shoving the goalie down, not an incidental contact. Believe what you want, but that was the right call. The goalie has to be allowed to play his position.
I heard Joe say that in his post-game interview. He was livid. But what was "this is what's going to happen" referring to? Taking the goal away? I hate it but I think it was the right call. Sounds like we were told by refs they were going to put their whistles away, but the review was correct. The hooking call that led to the final goal, however.....
No FloHockey feed?!
You're probably aware, but just in case, they can't call a minor penalty based on replay review; only majors. So, they could wave off the goal, but not give the two-minute penalty.I think the goalie interference call was correct. As soon as I saw the replay, I told my son the goal should not count (I was also a little relieved they didn't give a two-minute penalty for cross-checking).

If Tech had beat St. Thomas or LSSU one more time earlier in the year, last night wouldn't have mattered.
If you letting the other team score 3 PP goals off 4 chances, the team isn't giving themselves many chances. It's easy to blame the refs, but if you're going to do that in a road game, for the championship, learn better team discipline and work on the PK. Like turnovers in football, shooting yourself in the foot just makes it harder.
BTW, Tech needs to get ready for St. Thomas. Can't dwell too much on could've/should've, I would be disappointed if they came out flat.
Looking at the CHN Pairwise Probability Matrix, it looks like Tech should make it in.
Tech need to stop the mistakes and relying on Blake to keep them in the game. He is amazing and consistent, but they can't keep going to the well.
I agree. We typically allow the other team to turn the defense several times per game and we get away with it because of Blake but against high skill teams doing that will get us killed. We also allow several times per game, the other team to get multiple shots on net close in, again we cannot continue to get away with that. I do not see us winning a game in the NCAA's though I do think we make it in.
