Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!
If you're looking for a PWR boost, I'd like to see more of Duluth. St. Cloud is another good option. But probably the one being overlooked is Western Michigan. The Broncos have gone completely opposite of the Huskies - WMU will not play a single game against a team from the state of Michigan this season. Despite their placement in the NaCHo standings, they have a very high PWR and they're in an accessible travel radius.
There are enough long trips to deal with in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Huntsville. I think adding one in going out east is taking on a bit much in the travel department.
The schedule feels like it is going to get very stale without eastern teams in the GLI and playing LSSU in NC. I thought this team was doing well financially? I mean attendance is up, UAA, UA_ and UAH subsidize travel to some extent, how exactly does it hurt to play a NC series with an eastern team? This reshuffling has basically made it way to easy for the western teams to stay west and that isn't good for college hockey as a whole. I mean seriously, WCHA NC play is over and MTU has ZERO common opponents with Providence, Harvard, Yale, Vermont, Colgate, Merrimack, Northeastern, Dartmouth, Union, Connecticut, Bentley, Mercyhurst, Canisius, Massachusetts, RIT, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Brown, Princeton, Army, and Niagara. That's over a third of college hockey...
In other news, what happen to playing the toughest teams we can schedule to help the team grow and challenge them so they are ready? Giving up on that already? I'm sorry but I don't see MTU ever getting a QWB for beating LSSU and as you can see in the PWR that is huge.
