Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

Looking forward to the games this weekend already. Hopefully the experience BSU has gained facing top ten teams in the last four games will go a long way in preparing them for the snake pit they are about to enter.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

I took a quick look at the ticketing website, it seems like there are very few seats left for Friday night.

BSU has some good history with Carny Weekend as well! :) This is going to be a good series, I just may have to plunk down the money for WCHA TV.......

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

Prior to hosting a last-place UAH team last year, Tech had not swept Carny Weekend in over 15 years. I wouldn't attribute too much "magic" to the event as of late.

I'd still say magic since out of those 15 years how many times were they really expected or thought to have a chance at sweeping? MTU has won the carnival series more often than otherwise would be expected in those 15 years...

True. 2001, 2005, and 2010 they would definitely have been written off, and those were all splits or win/ties.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

so much win in this last page of posts.

first. everybody already buy a ****ed jersey!! other 22 of us want one!!

second. snake pit snake pit snake pit!!! we haven't been called that since the days of the Dee, have we??

third. 15 years? its seems just a few years ago Cam Ellsworth walked into the Winter Carnival dinner carrying the trophy and slammed it down on the table. I'm getting old.

fourth. I, for one, am afraid of Bemidji. more afraid, right now, than of Northern or Mankato. talk about on a roll.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

As I understand it, the MacInnes was called "the snake pit" by opponents as 'late' as the mid-80s.

You're right HF, we did sweep UMD in 2005 when Cam paraded the MacInnes Trophy around town after four long years for him and the team.

The teams I seriously don't want to play at the moment (or in the conference playoffs) are Bemidji and Lake State. Hot goaltending is always scary.

You just turned "hot goaltending" into goo. (Okay, so you destroyed the defense, mostly.)

Much of the prior success can be attributed to the schedule. The traditional faceoffs for a WC series were 7:30 on Friday night and 1:30 on Saturday afternoon. John MacInnes (and after him Jim Nahrgang and Herb Boxer) would always insert 3 fresh forwards into the lineup for the Saturday game, knowing that the opponent couldn't do that. The Huskies always had more jump that game and it shows in the historical standings. Once the Saturday puck drop was moved to 5:05, the advantage was mitigated somewhat.

Only a couple single seats left for this weekend. It's standing room here on out.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

I now have the 25 jersey minimum and if stuckinwi ends up wanting any we'll have a pretty good buffer to get this done. I have contacted Roy Britz for more info on prices and info required to get this done.

The two other guys interested need pricing first. :)
