Michigan Tech at Minnesota State 2/27-2/28: Who wants the MacNaughton Cup?

Re: Michigan Tech at Minnesota State 2/27-2/28: Who wants the MacNaughton Cup?

That is some bull**** the staff decided to be a bunch dicks about cowbells (especially so late into the weekend). It's too bad you techies are too nice to ignore their complaints and keep playing the cowbells. The good news is you ****ed off Cowbell Guy: https://www.facebook.com/TheCowbellBlog/posts/788914847853760?fref=nf&pnref=story

:D:D

Ha! My message got deleted and I got blocked from the group!

One complaint I have is that where we were sitting people had no clue to wait until a stoppage to return to their seats. Several times we had to stand to let people into the row in the middle of play, and many more times people were walking up the stairs blocking our view. It's common courtesy, people!

Those are the people I hope take a puck to the head.

the better team won. except for a few times, we weren't able to play our game and that's because they stopped us. and yes, the reffing was bad, but I don't think there was a specific call that affected the game.

Congratulations Mavs on the MacNaughton! its a beautiful trophy, take good care of it. we still want it back one of these years!

and to the cowbell thing - its not college hockey without a cowbell - the only thing annoying is if you sit directly in front or behind it. the Misfits don't do that to non Misfit fans.

That is honestly annoying. I also think the ushers, who are volunteers to raise money for their groups, aren't assertive enough in their duties, so it's not enforced well enough.

At the Mecca, the ushers are very adamant and strict on letting people down the aisles during play. I swear a couple of them would try and take you down if you tried to get to your seat before the whistle blew.

I don't think there are ushers to get up to the 300 level. People were stopped regularly to get into 200/100 level on Friday...

I moved my seats this year from the 300 level to the 200 level. This (ushers not controlling people on the 300 level) was one of the reasons I moved.

I wish they controlled that at all levels. Maybe another comment from Shane Frederick might help. He commented about long lines to get wrist bands and amount of beer vendors, and the city responded.

With a full arena, I think the beer vendors half way down the side concourse really suck and make it a cluster to get from sec 300 to the press area.

When you get that many people in the building most are casual fans and don't know the unwritten rules, unfortunately. It is a joke that you know you're going to have 5k+ in the building and you have 2 doors open for entry! The Verizon center could be a lot better in many areas. At least all that money they got is going somewhere. It just doesn't seem to be going toward hockey fan experience.

Great to see the Tech fans in the house (I sat in 300). And I got a kick out of Williams giving a nod (or shake) to ?Mitch? for the truffle shuffle he was doing during the game and every time Willy skated over that way during the stoppages. Looks like Rintoul had a good time after you guys let him finish his intermission reporting from the corner. Great fans!

Re: Michigan Tech at Minnesota State 2/27-2/28: Who wants the MacNaughton Cup?

I didn't mean to lay claim that they are the only ones that use it, but I do not recall another college hockey team that does it. Either way, MSU is the most known for it.

If you guys are referring to the ole' chant, UNO's Red Army has done it for years.

Must be a Mav thing.

I don't think they're the only ones who use the ole chant, but I agree, it's stupid no matter who uses it.

Bose you sound like a sore loser(stupid goal song & your team is dirty), before that song was used for the goal celebration no one got into it like other programs like the spelling bee for the Gophers, now the entire arena is up on their feet with it and it was immediate. It isn't supposed to be universally loved, just by the fan base that is cheering for the goal.

I would hope a visitor would hate our goal song. It's only played after we score a goal.

Only reason I hate it is it's a stupid soccer thing, hockey shouldn't use it. The Gophers one annoys me too, wow, you know how to spell Minnesota, but then again going to UMN isn't a guarantee they know how to spell yet ;)

In college hockey a goal song should be a school song or played by a pep band, not piped in stuff, leave that stuff for the pros.

Montreal uses it. I assume that's partly why they use it.
