Michigan Tech at Alaska Anchorage: Happy Ponies vs Sad Ponies

Re: Michigan Tech at Alaska Anchorage: Happy Ponies vs Sad Ponies

Wow!
At least Stuck acknowledged seeing him hit the boards. And defended his guy as to why. I can appreciate Stuck sticking up for his guy.
But you didn't watch close enough to even see that.
Nowhere did I ever say his slash came anywhere near the head. How did you dream that up?
Seems as if you might change it to Baseless301s;)

Edit: and your guy went after our guy who was nowhere near when your guy got "gooned".
Seems to me if your guy had a beef it would be with the guy who "gooned" him.
jimmyjam said he slashed the guy in the head last night...
And I call complete bs on that.

Re: Michigan Tech at Alaska Anchorage: Happy Ponies vs Sad Ponies

I saw it live and was pretty upset about the call, but then upon re-watching the clip I have a hard time objecting to the call. Johnstone was absolutely gooned behind the net as evidenced by the ref yelling and pointing at the UAA player to knock it off (I think under different circumstances that may have been called a penalty, but given how hard the ice was slanted in Tech's favor it let it go).

Then Johnstone gets up and slashes the first UAA player he sees (not the gooner) in retaliation. That retaliation put the UAA player in a very bad position that he could have easily been injured when the slash caused him to go headfirst into the boards which had essentially the same effect as CFB. With as much as they protect players along the boards these day I'm not surprised it was 5 and the game and I really don't have a problem with it.

Nothing to do with your post other than if you saw it live you must be in Losanchorage.
Come this far following your team I'd like to get you a beer. Or pop or coffee.
Maybe between the 1st and 2nd?
How can I recognize you? Seat number?
I have several things going at the game and move around too much to give you a specific place.

edit: most likely more than 1 in your group?

Seawolf Fan does have magic beer tickets! Take him up on his offer. :) I think Johnson is the only one up there this time around.

And I will admit I'm probably wrong on that. Mostly, to me, it's a non-issue. Tech overran UAA last night even with the major.

I hate it but unfortunately you called that one exactly right. Don't hate that your right. Hate that it's the truth.
Hoping for a much, much better result this evening.

Re: Michigan Tech at Alaska Anchorage: Happy Ponies vs Sad Ponies

I watched the video too and didn't see a single thing you saw. He most definitely was gooned behind the net and his slash came no where near the players head. Should the slash have been a penalty, absolutely, but it should have been a simple minor and that's it, not 5 minutes and definitely not a game misconduct. You're description is as homer as they come I'm sorry to say.

Watch the clip again Johnson got pushed down and then a push to the head as he tried to get up which I bet ****ed him off to the max and he went after the next player he could and 2 handed him with the blade of his stick above his head as he slashed the UAA Player on the stick and leg which caused him to fall forward and crash into the boards … the ref’s discussed the over the head 2 handed slash for a while and then gave him the gate and a early shower.

I guess I pulled a Brian Williams there and enhanced the truth a little bit. What I meant was watching in on the live stream.

This argument is getting in the way of the ponies.

Johnson looks like he might have got that sweet save on the camera there. :D

Re: Michigan Tech at Alaska Anchorage: Happy Ponies vs Sad Ponies

This UAA team is an embarrassment. I can't believe people clapped for them afterwards. *ing embarrassment.

Your coach was not happy in his interview, as expected.

But cheer up, just 4 seasons ago, the 2010-11 season, Tech went 4-30-4, and that was after starting the season 3-0-2, in their last 33 games they won once, and look where we are now, it can happen to you too.

Re: Michigan Tech at Alaska Anchorage: Happy Ponies vs Sad Ponies

First of all, I want to say I am happy for Tech. They were cellar dwellers for years, like UAA, and it's great to see them on top. I have followed UAA hockey for 27 years, and I don't ever remember being this embarrassed by a loss on home ice. We have walked out on a UAA game twice in all those years, and tonight was one of those times. It appears the guys have given up. Coach has to take some responsibility for that. Better figure it out soon!

Looking at the shot chart, it's hard to believe that the score was this lopsided, but it is what it is.

Your school and boosters put money into the program, ours does not

To be fair, with the cuts from the state, there isn't much money left. It costs $28,000 for each home series! They are spending a ton of money to remodel the Farg, which should be a nice recruiting tool when it's all done. I don't think we have the alumni that Tech has.
