Michigan Tech 2015 off-season I: Building on what we've learned...

Thank you to all who've help out and supported us over the last five years.

A lot of stick taps on the ice for you guys and the effort that was made over the last few years. I only partially understand the level of effort required to keep a web site like THG going. By comparison my site is pretty much archival in nature - no dynamic content, no deadlines, I do what I want and I get to it when I can. However THG was so much more with content that was dynamic, timely and utilized some of the great web technology that is available today to interact visitors and fans. If something about Friday's game wasn't up by Sunday morning, folks wondered if the staff had fallen down a well. If I don't post a new jersey for six months, no one is going to bat an eyelash. Far more pressure on THG to be fresh and timely...

So we know that some of the staff will be spending their time with "Baby B." and the only real question left to be asked is will the other half of the staff be spending their free time working on their netminding skills or a "Baby M."
:D

In closing I have to agree that if the goal was to push Tech to promote the team like a true D-I operation, then you absolutely made that happen. (I'm not sure if you can take credit for the HD videoboard getting put up, but pretty much everything we see today I think they learned from you guys.)

I'm really hoping that next season Tech will pick up the live chat feature through their website with Muckalt moderating AND posting from the bench. Maybe get him one of those voice to text headsets. We can dream right?

A huge thank you to all those who gave their time for the THG. I certainly enjoyed reading it.
Go Huskies!

For PairWise purposes, the Techsters had better be playing Yale the first night.
Well if I was ASU, I would be scheduling myself for U-Conn with the hopes of playing for a championship the second night, unless they just schedule the games for both nights without regard to the first night results. I'm putting this weekend on my calendar... road trip!

I would predict, based upon this, the home weekend with Ferris State moves to 30-31 October. It's the only common free weekend left.
Yes, confirmed - this has been posted on team's official page. (@ FSU 10/16-17 and vs FSU 10/30-31).

You guys deserve a huge pat on the back for the work you put into that site. You absolutely pushed the school to modernize and update their website. If I knew you all I'd buy you multiple brewskis. Well done!!!

If Muckalt were running a live chat from the bench that would be ******* amazing. Good Lord.

Lower case letters would be completely unnecessary. He is generally an all UPPER CASE kind of guy during games.
Bring it [CAPS LOCK] on...
I would love to find a video of him from his NHL days mic'd up on the ice. I can't image some of the stuff that might have been said when no filter was required.

Ironically, the same day Tech announced their trip to the desert, I received a bit of Phoenix history in my mail box along with another little piece of Pittsburgh thread.

I really liked THG and am sorry to see it go, but I realize it was a lot of work and had become somewhat redundant with the stepped up media presence from the hockey program.
That said, I will miss the recruit grid, the page tracking former players in the pros and the articles about future and former players.

If I had more time, and there were more than a handful of people interested in that stuff, I'd still do it. It was really difficult investing hours upon hours in the linkorama time stuff to only see 40 hits.

Re: Michigan Tech 2015 off-season I: Building on what we've learned...

Based on the asu guys having scheduled yale first, I'm thinking they will play them in the first game and we will get UCONN. UCONN is a real defensive style of play similar to BGSU or Ferris or Providence.. They are one of those teams you have to score first against. they beat some good teams earlier in the year( like BC) and did start to lose more at the end. I also think they have some good players coming in and will be a challenge to beat. If we are going to play a HE team, it is real good to play them on a neutral site so that they don't get that HE ref advantage.

Yale is a more up tempo team, much more like Tech is.
I'm wondering if there will be any TV for these games.
