Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

Most likely of those is UMD

Well yeah, that's like saying the girl I'm most likely to hook up with is the one I was married to for 30 years before we decided to see other people.

The one stopper to that is Red. He's said he doesn't like the travel to the UP. He bristles at going to Marquette, and really only goes there because they're in-conference.

I'm not entirely sure Red will be coaching at Michigan for another 5 years. That and if Mel asked nice enough I'm sure Red would suck it up and do it for the press clippings.

Ok, it's official. The girlfriend and I are going to Detroit for the GLI this year. Who wants to pick us up at the airport at noon on Thursday? Anybody?!?! :D

Hahaha, it'd be great to see more Tech non-conference games against other Michigan teams. I'm a big fan as long as they're always home and away. I don't want to be ****ed on by the bigger schools.

He mentioned Bemidgi is looking to set up an arrangment with UMINN where they travel to UMINN 2/3 of the time. sounds like he anticipated it would be similar arrangement with the big 10 if it happens. With it set up right, either UM, UW, or UMINN would be at tech every year. not bad.

That doesn't sound too bad at all actually. I'm all for that, especially if it means 2 out of 3 years I can go to Madison for a Tech series ;)

I wonder if Wisconsin will require some of the "road" games be in green bay?

I think that's a pretty safe bet.

They should go extremely old school for a game and hold it at the Dee. Of course I would only support this idea if I was promised the chance of purchasing a ticket, and if they let fans throw batteries and such on the ice.

That would be awesome.
I would pay a whole bunch of money to throw batteries at the Wolverines. A bunch of money.

I'm still working on my plan. It sounds like I might be meeting up with you-know-who from Arizona for the weekend, for the games and some drinking and fun.

Talk to my better half. I think he'll be around for it.

I'd go if I could do that. That would be fun. Wait, do I have to limit the targets to the Wolverines?

Michigan Tech picks up a goalie recruit for next season:
Pheonix Copley

Sounds like a project with potential. He's playing for the basement USHL team, which skews his numbers a little to the south. Among goalies who've played in at least 10 games, only two have had to make more than 300 saves so far, and he's one of them. He's already got two shutouts to his credit as well. At 6'3", he'll be one of the bigger goalies we've had in awhile.
