Bump off Page 2

Tech stayed at #15 in the USCHO

The Mel Pearson show is posted on the MTU website already, Wes has done a good job lately of posting it on Mondays

The team will leave tomorrow for Chicago and a Wed flight to UAA
Nielson suffered a minor concusion
They have 5 commitments but are waiting some LOI paperwork to get finalized
The goalie recruit is coming along, they had one in for an official visit the other weekend
Mel's talked to UMD, Min, UW, MSU and Mich about non-conf games in 2013-14

I'd bet Tromp gets a shot to start next year. Gut feeling + tMel Koolaid + Shields.
He may get a chance but I think he is more a walk-on replacement for cramer. As I just tweeted, look for Michigan Tech to announce signed NLIs from Alex Petan, Jujhar Khaira, CJ Eick, & Walker Hyland very soon.
Tyler Heinonen and/or a goalie are also possible/likely.

This would be huge.

Hopefully with our now even stronger ties to UMich, a more consistently good team, and Michigan having more non-conf spots to fill up, Tech and get Michigan to travel up to Houghton a couple times. Trust me when this happens (or even if Tech travels to Yost) I will be there.

I have a bet with bigblue that Michigan will play in Houghton against Michigan Tech sometime during Mel's first 5 years in Houghton.

It's probably a safe bet that if Michigan does come to Houghton, Michigan Tech would be the opponent. :D

I think that's a pretty safe bet.

They should go extremely old school for a game and hold it at the Dee. Of course I would only support this idea if I was promised the chance of purchasing a ticket, and if they let fans throw batteries and such on the ice.

That would be awesome.

Most likely of those is UMD

Hahaha, it'd be great to see more Tech non-conference games against other Michigan teams. I'm a big fan as long as they're always home and away. I don't want to be ****ed on by the bigger schools.

The one stopper to that is Red. He's said he doesn't like the travel to the UP. He bristles at going to Marquette, and really only goes there because they're in-conference.

Walt Kyle doesn't have 25+ years working along side Red.

And they fly up to MQT to boot. So it's not like he's getting sores from sitting on a bus for eight hours. It's an hour flight.

Considering Ma Bell was still together the last time that Michigan played in Houghton, I think BB_DL is right. Red is quite happy to only see you guys every other year thanks to the GLI.

*edit* And it was against Michigan that LSSU played "home" games at JLA, just so Red didn't have to make trips to the UP (and so LSSU could pocket the profits of a home game at JLA vs Michigan).

We can probably get series with UMD in Houghton and Duluth. Wisconsin might agree to a home and "home" in Madison and Green Bay. I could see a series with the Gophers in Minneapolis.

If Michigan or MSU agree to anything, it'll probably be downstate.

I'm hoping we can get the "local" teams to do home and home, if not... screw 'em. I like seeing the Eastern teams too.
