From what I've been reading though, Tech is taking a lot of positive steps (hey, they didn't get beat like the Wings tonight...rough night for Conklin).

As long as they can be remain competitive in league play, and at the GLI, it's all an improvement to me.

Yes it certainly sounded like that was true shirtless. Penalties in the offensive zone and away from the play were a problem last year too, as was general discipline. Also remembering last year the pk was terrible. Still it's a process and it's only 6 games in. We have plenty to work on for sure. Three weeks ago we were all thinking 8-10 wins would be about right.

Ahem.

That's a core of peeps that seemed to be formed a long time ago. Hell, I believe most of them even did the Bash at the Big House, a roadie that probably helped make them a great crew to go to games with. You was still like skipping kindergarten in 2004.

Detroit is out of state?

Its south of the Bridge, and thus not in the Superior State.

I really hope that there is someone who is doing a video documentary of the team's turnaround. I think it will make an awesome story as all the elements are there.

I went down to Marquette to watch northern play michigan saturday. Northern looks good, it will be a couple of tough games against them this year. They at times matched up really well against michigan 5-5 and killed a 5 minute major late in the game and through the overtime to force a shoot out. A lot of pressure on the points for the PK. need to figure out how to beat this, sounds like b. state did this a lot.

@shirtless guy....northern has its own up and coming shirtless guy. during a media break in the third he did a full shirtless dance from the top of the seats down to the glass, he then worked the glass really hard. very hairy.

i hate northern and the barry
expect northern to rank high this week
their pep band sucks

Where the eff is the Barry? JFC, if you're going to insult us, at least get your spelling correct.

Anyway, I hope Tech rights the ship this weekend. It's quite entertaining watching the reactions of the NCHC/B1G schools when they fall to us non-like minded institutions.

Thoughts from the weekend: Bemidji is a fast team and at times we struggled with that, couldn't set up the PP on Saturday, I thought some of the intererence and the slashing calls on Saturday were questionable.

I only caught the first half and hte very end of the Mel Pearson show this morning.
Mel wasn't sure how we'd do with Bemidji's speed and we wont see many teams like them this year
Thought Jimmy's 5 min was a clean hit and refs needs to be sure if they're going to call a penalty like that
We were being outplayed but still up 3-1 on Friday
Deserved better on Saturday, but sometimes games like that happen
Mel's excited to have DU come into town and see how we compete

I think the Bemidji series will prove to be a good reality check and will keep the team working hard. I was impressed with Bemidji's Freshman goaltender. Given the lopsided shots on goal, he really kept them in the game Saturday. I wasn't so happy with Tech's goaltending either night, but the MTU power play was the real killer. Hopefully, we can translate last weekend into a good learning and development opportunity.

Not much to talk about. Everyone is happy that Tech doesn't suck as much as last year, but not really all that excited right now after getting swept last weekend. Posting has died down partly because there are maybe 2 current students that post, all of us that are left are the same group that started posting 2-5 years ago.

I think techcodemonkey is the only remaining student who posts in any kind of consistent manner. Gina (I forget what her board name is) is around from time to time, and some of the other Misfits/Students have accounts but don't post frequently.
