Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

More on the awards.. Petry, Tropp, and Palmissano all made it on the all-CCHA second team. Was quite surprised to not find any of them on the first team. Any thoughts why?

Hmm...

Palmisano- 2.27

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Anyone want to explain tropp then? I know he has dropped off a lot but still had the best first half of the season..

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

In the CCHA he is 16th in the nation..ahead of a lot of the first teamers.. But i do realize it is the ccha all-teams.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I am just fine having a team of "who are they's". This team has talent and chemistry...a lack of standout point producers is fine with me.

I agree a team that wins but lacks a real points star is better then one that is middle of the pack or worse and does have one.

Well Allen, if you ever needed ammunition to go after the athletic department for their lack of hockey promotion, i think you have it. You should ask them why that after you had warned them, after packing the place for Ferris and Bowling green and selling out pretty much every game against UM ever, last night's playoff game was the most poorly attended game of the season. See if they have an answer for that that. They will probably use the lack of students or point our playoff attendance history but last night was alarming and I am sure the team was very disheartened to come out to a half full arena.

There were 3,200 people at the game...if you take out the Michigan fans that number would literally be 2,000. That is truly sad.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

I'm curious if that was the worst attended game ever at Munn? I can remember being there a couple of times either in Amo's last years and Masons first (not sure exactly which) when the team hadn't been all that good for a number of seasons and the place seemed to have 6000 people in it. 3000 for a good team in a playoff game against your arch rival seems unreal.

That is what is so strange. All regular season games against Michigan usually are packed to the brim and approach or surpass 7000. Playoff games are usually not attended well but i don't think anybody expected the draw last night.

Simply put, the athletic department dropped the ball. Sure, they'll use every excuse you mentioned above, but the fact remains that they still effed up gigantically.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

shouldnt more people be going to the playoff games?

Back in the day tickets for the playoffs were paid for along with the regular season ticket package. Recently they started having us pay for them before the playoffs...this means less regular season ticket holders are purchasing playoff tickets. This is, in my opinion, the biggest mistake.

Well i can only imagine that so many people complained last year about having to pay for tickets that were never used, that they just pulled them finally. Clearly it has a large impact on attendance.

People were always refunded for tickets not used (usually the Sunday playoff tickets). But if MSU wanted to have a respectable number of people there, they never should have changed a system that worked just fine.

Re: Michigan State 2009-2010

Just checked the box scores...wow, 3100 at Munn??

What gives? Has hockey fallen off the face of the earth in East Lansing?
