How is Kuraly doing after getting his leg run over?
I know we kinda gave up on maintaining a team thread on here, but I couldn't resist giving a quick bump today. All else aside, it felt so good to see the boys lift that trophy last night. I am always okay with banners and hardware.
As for the NCAA, brutal regional draw, but (1) we're back in the tournament, (2) after all these years, we should probably just expect to get screwed/sent out east regardless of seed, and (3) wherever you end up, you ultimately just have to get the job done. The biggest issue I have is that I don't get an easy road trip to South Bend, though I will find a way to get myself to Boston if we make it through.
We know Coleman is out for the first game, so hopefully he gets a chance to lace up for the Red & White at least once more. Barber is a question mark. The knee injury certainly didn't look good during the game, and he was clearly not in good shape when he was essentially carried back onto the ice by a teammate and team staff for the celebration. However, I saw video today that showed him skating/gliding on his own through the handshake line, so that was encouraging.
If we can make it past Providence, we get yet another match-up with Denver or our nemesis, the Eagles of BC. As strange as it is to say, I think I'd rather see BC. Denver knows our team so well already and would have the NCHC semifinal game to fire them up. BC is seemingly less the juggernaut of recent years and it would just be so so sweet to finally beat them, especially on the way back to a Frozen Four. Nonetheless, the though of playing watching another Miami-BC games still ties my stomach in knots.
Here's to another week of not being able to focus on work, hopefully watching two great Miami hockey games on TV, and then a short-notice vacation to Boston. Go RedHawks!

I watched you guys Saturday night. I don't think it's a "brutal" draw at all. If you don't advance to the FF I will be surprised. Don't let BCs reputation scare you. Gillies can stand on his head and steal one, but you certainly should be the favorite.
Whether justified or not, BC will scare me until we beat them in a tournament gameFar too many bad memories. Fortunately, as 95 pointed out, none of the people that matter (the players) share those same memories.
Pretty much agree with all of this and as I said on Twitter and at the Blog, beat who is on the schedule. Nothing you can do about it. Nothing good comes from whining. Considering that, it's a winnable bracket but Saturday will be tough if we're down two 20-goal scorers against, arguably, the best goaltender in the nation. But, Rico has impressed me this year with his adaptability. He has really put on a coaching clinic. I might argue it's been his best job getting this team to this point. For once, we actually have more talent than BC and we know what Denver has. The question is whether all of our talent will be out there when it counts.
Either way, win or lose, great season. Exceeded my expectations and I'm glad to see that we're back after a year off. The shame is that if those guys can't play, and we lose, that this might have been the team to make another run given its makeup. Next year, we'll be awfully young up front and that assumes Kuraly stays (I can't imagine Barber stays, but anything's possible). This team seems mentally tougher than previous squads who've struggled with BC. Plus, there isn't anyone left from those teams that faced them. We haven't played BC since the 2010 Frozen Four. And, frankly, I think it could be a moot point. If DU is healthy (e.g., LaLeggia), I think they win that game with the way their top line is playing.
And... the coaches?
I hear there is some stuff happening tonight.
I doubt anyone that is on this forum thread doesn't already follow the @MiamiHockeyBlog but if you don't you really should. Those guys have done some great pre-season posts and I'm sure it is only more great content to come throughout the season.
Best of luck to the team tonight. Hopefully they can start things off on the right foot.
And oh yes...GO Cubs!
Maybe we should start a season thread?
The team looked A LOT better tonight. Last night they just seemed out of sync and almost disinterested. Much more fight tonight, especially toward the end. Providence is fast and takes every opportunity to put the puck on net. With the exception of last night and the NCAA regional last year, these teams just seem to love playing each other to OT. Hope we can keep them on the schedule in future years.
