Miami University 2014-2015: It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll.

Re: Miami University 2014-2015: It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and ro

I didn't think you guys looked too good. Guess last season's implosion still lingers. Easy prediction for 2 "W"'s for Ohio State this weekend!

Even with the implosion that was last season we still managed to sweep Ohio State. :D In all seriousness though, Miami has a lot of ups and downs in the first two games this season. Looked pretty good at times (2nd period of Sunday game) and not good plenty of times as well. We must reduce the d-zone turnovers and the dumb penalties (Captain Obvious). I didn't get to see any of the Ohio State series this weekend, but from what I heard OSU's powerplay is looking good so all the more reason to stay out of the box. Looking forward to seeing Miami in person for the first time this year.

All kidding aside it should be a good series. Early last season we were plagued with unexpected issues with the goaltenders, defense slow to be a cohesive unit and not a lot of team effort.
That all changed the second half of the season and I think were are experiencing continuity and continuation from how good we became last season as demonstrated against Providence last weekend.
Despite one of our best guys out with an injury I think we're more than ready for you guys.

Please. 8-2-1 against duhOSU over the past 11. Wasn't entirely certain you guys still had a program. #irrelevant

Guess you didn't get the memo that you guys haven't got what it takes to beat us these days. So perhaps your guys should go beat what they usually do?

I pulled 19 Miami fans together for my VCA invasion force. Looking forward to seeing the team in person for the first time since early last season. From what I've read, OSU had a couple solid games against Providence and came away with the split. I thought Miami looked better than they did in the Super Swoon of 2012-13, though obviously a long way to go. I didn't get to watch Friday, but I thought both goaltenders looked solid on Sunday, which was heartening. Looking forward to a couple great games and hopefully two Miami wins. Go Hawks!

Good win last night. Need to finish them off tonight and ready for St. Lawrence next weekend.

Um...is that USCHO game summary right?
Shots were 2-0 in the second and 46-11 in the third?

that's false. I think it was somewhere closer to 22-5 Miami in the second. I could be off +/- by a few.

Pretty good bounce back weekend, after what I thought was two sluggish games against bgsu.
Streamed both games, and it looked like an entirely different Miami team then I watched in that high school arena in BG last friday. The speed and forecheck were relentless and Miami dominated Ohio State all over the ice. Outside of a few minutes in each game, this is the team I hope to see going forward.

I love reading the comments on the ohio page. Whatever excuses they could come up with for getting run off the ice, they did. Mostly blaming us fans...

Only improvement on last night I would like to see is finishing. Seemed as if a lot of our great chances were shot right into their Gk's chest. And Frey played one heck of game. Have to give him props for 60+ saves.

Miami - 3200 seats BGSU - 5000 seats some high school arena.

I think Tam-o-shanter is nicer. Quality over quantity. Should have made that basketball arena multi-purpose

Side note: I had another pleasant experience at the BG game. My seats were in the faculty, season ticket holders area and the old guys around me were all nice enough. Although the way BG seemed to handle Miami that night probably helped.

Solid weekend, to say the least. I had a great time in the Schott on Friday night with my group. The Columbus Chapter of the MUAA had us in great seats, center ice 12 rows up. Dominating performance from a clearly much-improved team. I was very impressed with the effort and execution from the defensive corps. Williams looked good in net and held up well during the times that OSU managed to get some sustained pressure. You can also see the results of the strength and conditioning out there. Nearly every RedHawk skater was a couple steps ahead of nearly every Buckeye on the ice. Outside of about a 2-minute stretch in the third, everything seemed to be clicking.

Had the Saturday game on but wasn't able to pay a lot of attention, so I didn't realize how much Miami dominated that game until they started talking about the SOG differential toward the end. Heck of a performance by Frey to only give up 2 goals on that many shots, regardless of shot quality! So great to see Miami fight back after the other team scored first and win another 1-goal game.

No. Miami had 25 shots in the second period, 23 in the third. Miami's live stats combined the last two periods into the third, minus the two goals since you have to have a shot for a goal.

Well, we gifted away that game tonight. Hopefully we've got our two bad losses of the season out of the way already.

Relieved to get that goal in OT last night. It's tough to say too many shots is a bad thing, but it seemed like many times we were rushing shots instead of being patient/ waiting for better angles.

Re: Miami University 2014-2015: It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and ro

Hey! It's GAMEDAY! Friday definitely snuck up on me this week. Perhaps it is because I have been so busy at work. Anyway, I had a dream last night Miami fell behind 5-0 in the first period against Duluth so that is not a good sign. Must have been a pre-Halloween nightmare flashback to last Friday's game with St. Lawrence. Hopefully there is no sleepwalking for a period tonight, or Saturday really, and we play two strong games. Looking forward to staying in and watching the game on NCHC.tv and hopefully get my weekend off on the right foot.

Sidenote: I'm not sure how closely everyone else follows recruiting but I saw some tweets recently showing that Miami got a commit named Ben Lown. He currently plays for the Colorado Thunderbirds U16 team. He was drafted by the Omaha Lancers in the 4th round of the USHL draft and should be playing under Miami's own Brian Kaufman next year. Looks to be a small, speedy guy (5'5" 150lbs). He played bantams in 2012-13 with Shattuck St. Marys and had a line of 55GP-44-46--90 6 PIM and played on the Shattuck U16 team last year putting up 67GP-26-48--74 with 20 PIM. Looks like a solid pickup and we should be seeing him in a Miami jersey in 2017.
