MIAC Women's Hockey

Re: MIAC Women's Hockey

Congrats to St Thomas for defeating the Cobbers 2-1 in the MIAC semi's. Third year in a row they have ended their season. Very entertaining game and the refs let em play.

Re: MIAC Women's Hockey

From the stats, it looks like they indeed let them play. No PP's for UST.
It's hard to believe the ref's didn't see anything in 60 minutes of college hockey. But congrats to both teams...

I watched the 2nd/3rd period and really didn't see much that was a blatant penalty. There were a few...well that could be a trip moments, but other than that it wasn't anything major.

On the other hand, in the Lake Forest/St. Norbert game there were a significant number of blatant penalties on both sides that weren't called. I really don't see how the way a game is called can change just because its a playoff game.

The game really could have gone either way. Concordia had some really great chances in the third and just couldn't get em to connect.

I respect your opinion but there were at least 8 missed calls and I'm probably being generous. But it went both ways so no harm.

I might not have been able to see everything happening on the ice on the video feed.

Again it begs the point...why are games called differently because they are play off games vs the regular season. The same with in the final minutes of a game. A hook is a hook, a trip is a trip it doesn't matter when it happens, if it happens it should be called.

The players don't like it either, because each week it's called different.
Last weekend the game was called one way, this weekend it's playoff hockey so let the stick work go.

I totally agree. While all of us parents from both teams were waiting in the lobby for our daughters to come out we all agreed that the whistles were basically put away for the entire game. Truthfully I have never witnessed a women's game like the one I saw today as far as no calls being made. It was quite unreal.
