Miac 2010-2011

Re: Miac 2010-2011

Thomas lost too much talent, I don't think they have it in them to go all the way this year.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

I went by more than just a gut and actually forecasted each game and came up with the following:

Gustavus 17-0-1 35 points
St. Catherine 13-2-3 29 points
St. Thomas 10-2-6 26 points
St. Olaf 10-4-4 24 points
Concordia 8-6-4 20 points
Saint Mary's 6-6-5 17 points
Bethel 6-8-4 16 points
Hamline 2-14-2 6 points
Saint Benedict 2-15-1 5 points
Augsburg 0-16-2 2 points

I erred on the side of historical results, basically because that is all the concrete evidence we have to go by.

I'm really hoping that GAC 17-0-1 does not happen....i'm tired of the MIAC having no one good

I'm sure everyone BUT GAC agrees with you. Its just tough to predict where the upsets will happen with them. Last year they came as such a surprise. I would be more surprised if they went 17-0-1 this year, but it's too adventerous to try and predict who will top them. St. Kate's and St. Thomas would be the safest bets, but you can't rule out St. Olaf, St. Mary's, or even Concordia. Bethel could sneak a point from them but that will be dependent on whether their goaltending can step-up/hold up.

you'd really think that at some point the other MIAC coaches would get together to brainstorm ideas on how to stop the GAC offensive scheme...lol. Maybe a rebel alliance, if you will, against the evil Gustavus empire.

It's hard to predict until the rosters for Bethel and Point come out. I only say this because BU lost some players from last year, so I'm waiting to see who they are. The UWSP website has Coach Ann saying they have some transfers coming in. I will wait until Friday morning and hopefully the rosters will be up.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

My thoughts....123 I've heard rumors about one of the transfers to Point...Goalie from Chatham(?)

Re: Miac 2010-2011

I also just read the article on the D3 WOMAN'S PAGE!! about the Concordia coach being fired over the summer. Any one know anything about that? Who did they replace him with..etc? How will that affect the team?

MOORHEAD, Minn. (6/28/10)--Concordia Athletic Director Dr. Larry Papenfuss announced on Monday that Brett Bruininks will serve as the interim head women's hockey coach. Bruininks has been teaching in the Health and Physical Education Department at the college since September and was also an assistant coach for the Concordia men's hockey team during the 2009-10 season.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

I believe a change of scene might be good for those Concordia athletes. After what their old coach did, I think they may want some revenge and may come out flying. I predict they sweep this weekend versus Finlandia.

Friday
Bethel at St. Norbert
Augsburg at Lake Forest
Saint Mary's at Marian
Wis-Stevens Pt. at St. Olaf
St. Benedict at Robert Morris(IL)

Saturday
Bethel at Concordia (WI)
Wis-Stevens Pt. at St. Olaf
Concordia (Moorhead) at Finlandia

Sunday
Concordia (Moorhead) at Finlandia

Re: Miac 2010-2011

After some of the rosters are now up:

SNC over Bethel
LF over Augsburg
SMU over Marian
Olaf and UWSP - tie
CM over FU
CSB over RMU (chicago) ex.

Bethel over CUW
LF over Augsburg
UWSP over Olaf
CM over FU
SMU and SNC - tie
CSB over RMU (chicago) ex.

So I think I have the NCHA/MIAC splitting the weekend.

Re: Miac 2010-2011

I suppose it makes sense to avoid driving all the way to Duluth for 1 game...but 3 games in 3 days never goes well for that team. We'll see what Concordia has this weekend I guess.

I'd think River Falls would be closer than Finlandia, as Finlandia is 4 hours from Superior....but 2 @ Finlandia, 2 @ Superior and 1 @ CSS seems odd.
