Merrimack College Warriors 2016-17

Re: Merrimack College Warriors 2016-17

Spaxman and Foget out? Not a great Christmas present.

Some good news for Merrimack tonight.

‏@MikeMcMahonCHN
Merrimack will travel to to Denver & CC in 2017-18 and Denver & CC make their first trips to Lawler Rink in 2018-19.

Boy.. If we lose to #58 NMU tomorrow..

Still hoping for the "Northeastern Miracle"
Sorry, not going to happen. Not sure what the deal was with Foget and Spaxman, but would have been nice if they had an ounce of courage and told Dennehy face to face; I'm guessing they knew they were not coming back when they left for the break. Quitting by e-mail is lame.
0-35 on the power-play, and you gave up 2 power-play goals to one of the worst power-play teams in the country. Shutout for the 3rd time this season. Just disappointing all around.

It's gonna be a rough Jan/Feb.

Were the two borderline, fringe players, in and out of the line up? Face to face would be the way to go and not an email but in the past Lowell sometimes would lose a player at the break due to lack of playing time or what not. Always one of the guys who you saw play on night, sit the next.

Merrimack played 17 games before the break.

Spaxman, 20, had one goal and three assists in 14 games this season. He appeared in 48 games over the past two seasons, scoring three goals and adding five assists.

Foget, 19, also had one goal and three assists in 13 games this season. He appeared in 47 games over the past two seasons, totaling six goals and 10 assists.

Well they seem to play pretty much every game, give or take, so not fringe players. Maybe just realized they didn't fit in there for one reason or another but letting the coach know by email is pretty lame.

I agree, it's like breaking up with someone by text.

Re: Merrimack College Warriors 2016-17

Maybe Taylor Swift can write a song about Foget and Spaxman?

Bad Blood.

The thinking as of last year was that Spax could be a pretty formidable defender, especially if he added muscle. A trend that's been mentioned amongst the Warrior faithful in the past is the fact that rarely do any of our players ever seem to improve or develop. They will come in and look good freshmen year and either level off or fizzle out.

Re: Merrimack College Warriors 2016-17

Who will score more points this weekend, MC or the Texans?
Not that anyone is a GOOD match-up for the Warriors, but ND is a REALLY bad one. One team can't score, and the other has arguably the best goalie in Hockey East. Honestly, I'll be surprised if 'Mack puts up a field goal worth of goals on the weekend.

Re: Merrimack College Warriors 2016-17

Great job by Delia keeping them in the game.

Why on earth is Brett Seney, your best offensive player, put on the 3rd line with a center who has 1, count 'em 1 point in 14 games? Honest coach, are you TRYING to make it even more difficult for your team to score? At least pair him up with one other linemate who knows where the opposing goaltender is standing.

I think you're being too kind about our goalie. He's good but far too inconsistent to be considered arguably the best in Hockey East. There are at least 2 or 3 who are having better seasons. And you guys got almost a touchdown's worth of goals on the weekend. :D

Frankly, Notre Dame was lucky to come away from the weekend with points. They tried to give away the game on Friday by playing as much of the 3rd period short-handed as they could. Only MC's inability to generate anything on the PP (a problem for you guys all year) and another game saving goal by Anders Bjork (who will skip his senior season to earn a paycheck from the Bruins next season) got ND a win.

A field goal and a safety. To split with ND is about what I would have predicted at the beginning of the season, but certainly not on Thursday. The standings are a little wild right now, we're ahead of Providence somehow (with games in hand).

Well Petersen IS tied for the most shutouts nationally, and given MC's offensive woes, another shutout wouldn't have been a huge surprise. But you're right, Wall (UML) Woll (BC) and Oettinger(BU) have all been impressive this year.
Regardless, very good win for the Warriors on Saturday. Some nice puck movement (liked LeBlanc's goal). Looks like Delia may be finding his form which would be huge.
NU's offense will be a big challenge, but their D and goaltending has been suspect.

Re: Merrimack College Warriors 2016-17

Any updates on the defenseman situation? Word is that Titcomb is out for the year (seen with a cast on his arm on Saturday), which leaves us with 6 D's. I'm thinking either we convert a big F like Alfred Larson or take a walk-on. Not sure it's worth accelerating a prospect, unless Dennehey really believes this team has turned the corner.
