Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

Re: Merrimack College 2011-2012 Season Thread - vita post Da Costa

I don't disagree, it just seems that in Bennedetto reffed games, the penalty minutes are inordinate. I'm guessing he is A LOT quicker to assess 5's,10 min. misconducts and to give guys the gate than some of the others.

He gave Pat Mullane a 5 min HFB & the game on Friday night as well for a penalty that maybe deserved 2 minutes.

They're all a bunch of buffoons and it's terrible that Bertanga will put his head in the sand whenever it's brought up like a 2 year old.

That is true. In fairness, it looks like zero tollerance for head shots and from behind.

Give me Tommy Cronin every game and I will be happy

arguing with refs, nothing serious. a little quick on the trigger by the zebras

in the end you hope that it motivates the players as he was simply sticking up for them. they have good leadership so I am sure they are dissapointed that they put him in that situation. he has their back for sure, now they need to come back tomorrow and reward him with a win

What line combos do you think we will see against Vermont?

What's Sheen's status? Looked like he got cut in the Friday night game at PC, and he did not play on Saturday. Will he be out for a while?

I was sitting in section 4 Saturday night and here is Mark's direct quote. " It's too late. I dont F#@*ing want it."

Any truth to the rumor that there was a not so classy hand gesture by Dennehy?

I doubt it very seriously, he is above that.
Anything he did was out of loyalty to his players and goalie. He stood up for them, now they need to get back slightly behind the line and stand up for him. He is well respected by refs and not top half of the moaners/victims in the Hockey East coaching fraternity

McMahon has Sheen and Kolomatis "doubtful" which sucks. Sheen seems to be a big piece of the PK and Kolo was making a solid case for himself out there.

Looking forward very anxiously to see you guys play Colgate !

I had heard it was a not so classy hand gesture given TOWARDS Dennehy by the ref, not by Coach D. But I could be wrong.

Edit: Sorry Warrior DJ...I should have read all the way to the top of the post before replying, instead of just repeating what you said LOL

Nice win (still too many penalties for my liking, but as a certain coach in this area says, "It is what it is").
Slick/sick move by Velleca on the 1st goal. Nice to see the frosh getting some goals (Toomey playing very well, and that was a nice move by Mansfield on his 2nd goal).
Off from HE for a month, but a couple of good OOC matchups with the Colgate and Union, and then the Ledyard up in Hanover. I wonder if we'll see Marrotta in any of those games?

These teams coming up have potential PWR ramifications. If you haven't seen him against the non TUC's you've played, it makes zero sense now. Have to beat the TUC's.

For those that don't know what I'm talking about... it's math, and I'm sure your coach knows all about it. ;)

Good win Wed. Not sure if anyone else saw it, but I sit right behind the replay monitor. UVM's third (disallowed non-) goal was going across the line when a UVM player tried to potentially pick up a cheap goal and inexplicably stopped it. Joe reached back and flicked it out. Really unbelievable and a huge momentum shift.

To repeat previous post, two HUGE games coming up for Pairwise implications. Hopefully, we see the Sheen-Madsen-Flannigan line back out there intact. That being said, good sign that these Frosh are really picking up their games (What's toomey's pt streak at?).

I agree, that disallowed non-goal was huge. It gave MC a wake up call and they picked up their play and yes, the Frosh are really contributing and proving how deep this team is. IMO, I really like the Mansfield-Madsen-Velleca line, they had a combined 8 points. Sometimes line shake ups have good results.

A few guys to keep an eye on:

Sr. Ryan Flanigan (F) is a local kid from Rochester, NY: he leads the team with 12 points in 13 games and is a wrecking ball on ice.

Sr. Jesse Todd (F) has 10 points in 12 games and plays all three zones very well; So. Mike Collins is the resident sniper on the PP and he has 11 points in 13 games.

On defense Sr. Karl Stollery is one of the top defenders in Hockey East and So. Jordan Heywood is an outstanding defenseman in his own zone and owns one of the best hip checks in Hockey East.

and the kid in goal, Joe Cannata, is not too shabby either!!

A great game and you guys have a very good team. I thought Canata was outstanding many times, he's the real deal. Good luck the rest of the way !!(help our PWR) Lol.
