Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

Who gives a rat's *** if Merrimack hasn't played a team with 3 of the top 6 scorers in the country along with 2 Hobey finalists on 2 different lines? My other point was that won't phase them because they've played a better team than Miami...BC. And they've played them tough all year long.

BC is better than Miami and Merrimack gave them fits in all four meetings. Merrimack is also better than Western Michigan IMO.

I don't think your assessment here holds much water anymore :)

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

Who has worse fans than BC??? The Fraudulent French
After experiencing the over-the-top obnoxious UMass fans who recently came into our arena, I can tell you they HAVE TO be the worst. Spewing insults non-stop at our players and fans was incredibly hard to take and they overall came across like a bunch of low-lives. Yes, our fans chants ought to be toned down, especially that goalie one whenever we score. It's really a bit much, I agree. I'd like to see them just stick to positive stuff for BC, but I'm just one man and alumnus. Anyway, UNH fans are pretty bad, too. Not so much on the road, but in their own arena - look out. They DON'T take kindly to opposing fans I've experienced (@ NU as well, but a little more tolerant) and they actually boo their own players when things get bad - totally unacceptable at this level. Finally, BU fans come into arenas and think they own the **** place and will chant in unison stuff like 'Jesus Hates You' at a Catholic school like BC. Imagine the uproar they'd make if anything anti-Semitic was ever chanted back at them - however much deserved. These obnoxious heathens LOVE to let everyone know 'BC sucks' and will shove it down your throat, even in victory. I have a lot of experience with BU fans and put them in a definite 2nd place because they're so ungracious in victory and so irreverent - the latter being an unfortunate trademark of the people comprising the school's majority student body and alumni.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

Merrimack has a real chance to do something great here. They are one of 2 hockey east teams left...if this truly is the greatest hockey conference then at least one of their teams has to make some noise in the NCAA...and I'm not putting money on UNH to be the producer....

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

The best conference...that has been the WCHA for some time now. HE has had BC (and BU in '09) but the WCHA has been deeper and better for quite some time now.

You have to wonder if he checked himself out knowing he was leaving.

hmmm. i was just thinking that he will now be back for certain. goalie is a different animal. i'd be wondering about bringing him in if i was putting together a team and just saw him totally space out of three goals that without any doubt should not have gone behind him.

just stunning.

The only bad goal he let in was the through the glove 2nd goal. The 3rd goal basically had his own player crashing into him and the 4th goal was out of no where off of a bad play by a defenseman. (I did not see the first goal)

Merrimack had plenty of offensive chances to end it. In the end, Cannata just got some bad breaks and the D did some stupid things with the puck on those bad breaks.

sorry. but your job is to protect.your.net. he could see the play coming around the post to his right and he could see the nd player ready to forecheck. to stand there in ot in the middle of the crease minding your own nothing is inexcusable.
what else was he needing to do there? was he checking fb?

move your *** over and hug the post. get your stick on the ice so --gee-- in case something happens you are prepared and ready to deal with it.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

To see what you guys did this year really ticked me off... not so much to do with you but to prove what you can do with fewer resources than what we've had... but in the end you have to respect the effort and the things done over the course of the year... while each additional passage through the tournament would have further annoyed me it would have been earned... that being said, you didn't deserve for it to end like this... however I may feel about the implications of your success you do have to respect it.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

I cannot believe the luck we had tonight. MC dominates for 2 full periods (1st, most of 2nd and the first 5 minutes of OT) and ND is the one that got the fluke (a rarity this season for them). I was scared the entire game because MC was on fire. I fear you guys in the future and hope we never have to meet you again in the post-season. Congrats on a great run.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

not sure how "fearful" this team will be once Steph, Cucci, Barton, Ross are all gone...we have some depth but there will be holes to fill

DaCosta's not a senior, is he? Will he leave early? I know that was a concern going into this season...

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: playoff run

The league will be absolutely terrible next year. Assuming Flanigan stays (no guarantee after his playoff success) and all the other underclassmen besides Cannata and Steph, MC will still be decent. The other flight risks are Stollery and Todd. Could care less if Bigos left. The recruits are starting to get better. Velleca will step up. The team will have to rely on more of a defensive style next year, but the defense could be very good if Stollery returns.
