Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Question for the Merrimack faithful, what time should one get there to pick up tickets at will-call and not wait in line for 30 minutes? Does the "lobby" still get dangerously crowded at game time? I'm thinking of bringing my young kids and need to prepare accordingly. Last year was ridiculous, as fans were crowded in that area like sardines.

The lobby is still the same. The will call line is very slow so I would show up around 6:45, 7:00 at the latest.

I can't wait for the new lobby next year! I would also plan to arrive early to get a semi-decent parking space.

I still can't believe it's February and Merrimack is in first place. Need to show up Sunday versus PC.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Great win by Merrimack. Perfectly predicted by a former Merrimack player I work with.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

nice win by you guys. congrats. I had a great time despite the outcome........and Blue Moon no less!:D

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Last night was probably the best game I have seen at Lawler in my time as an MC fan. I think Marotta should be given a big chunk of the credit for the win, stopping two Gaudeau breakaways and holding the fort in a handful of late 3rd period scrums. I thought the defense was excellent, especially the poke checks by Bigos who played an excellent positional game. Offensively you have to love the work of Connor Toomey all night, setting up plays for his linemates and obviously the winning tally but I thought Gould and Christie both were great at A-framing (if I can borrow a Jack Edwards-ism) in the offensive zone to maintain puck possession after BC spent so much time blitzing Marotta.

First place is a nice memento - but there are 7 more of these to go...

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Impressive tie last night. The audio was awful so it was difficult to follow the game. I was worried about the Sunday afternoon game and the letdown after the big win against BC. Next Sunday is another big game and I expect a similar atmosphere.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Excellent weekend, taking 3 out of 4 very tough points. Great to see some MA guys (Heffernan, Toomey, Marotta and Collins) having such as huge impact in the BC game. 6 games left to go in an absolutely wild race for home ice.

Any updates on Jardine's knee injury?

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Most likely done for the season. Expect Singleton to slide in with Bly and Heffernan to move up with Bates and Myers.

Did not see it happen but you have to think from the description it was an ACL, in which case we can only hope that he's at least healthy to start sometime next season.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Disappointing loss today. Marotta was excellent in net (stop on Linnell was a 10-bell save). MC had so many chances, 5 on 3, turnover to Myers all alone in front, but couldn't finish. Have to ask, what was Mansfield, a converted forward, doing on D in OT against one of the highest scoring teams in the country? That was a head-scratcher.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Definitely turns tomorrow into a MUST win...any more losses to TUC teams might mark the end of the season if they don't win the HE tournament. Pretty much have to win out at this point.

Mansfield isn't unqualified back there - played there in juniors and has plenty of HEA experience to boot this season. One unmarked forward aside, I think he has been a rock back there - as the old axiom goes - the less you notice a defenseman, the better the play in your own zone...

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

I was asked who was favored to win the BU game tonight and looked at McMahon's tale of the tape. Looks like a tossup, same number of wins, 50-50 krach prediction, etc. I'm giving an edge to MC here based on Marotta's stats being a fair bit better than O'Connor's and the fact that a point or points will put them in first place.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

I hope Merrimack keeps up the forecheck that they used in the first half of Sunday's game. The large turning point in Sunday's game was the 5-3 that Merrimack did not score on. The issue was not that they didn't score it was the fact that they were too passive and lacked any great scoring opportunities during the advantage. Yuppie Scum I agree with your thoughts about tonight's game. Hopefully all turns out well tonight, I am excited to go back to Agganis for the first time in six years.

Getting absolutely waxed....now 5-0 BU. Home ice? Not playing like this. Horrible.

Awful, just awful play. They must have taken a real beating sunday, they looked like they were skating through sand the whole game. Looks like we are going to have to hope for a favorable matchup in the HEA tourney at this point.
