Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Another night, another tough loss for the Warriors. Providence won the special team battle as the Warriors failed to take advantage of that long 5 on 3. Unfortunately, for Merrimack unlike last year they aren't getting that late go ahead goal and the game winning save. Oh, well tonight is another night and I am excited to finally get down to PC. Go Warriors!

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Last night's game was a great team effort. Everyone did a great job blocking shots, taking the body and taking advantage of the Friar mistakes. I think both goalies have played well this season and should continue to split time. Dennehy is doing a great job in mixing and matching his lineup. Those were 2 big points for the Warriors who got the road split. Excited to see Harvard next Friday, hopefully Merrimack continues their solid play from this weekend.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Not exactly the way I envisioned them splitting with PC with the road team winning each night, but I'll take it. Tough to give up that point on Friday night with under a minute to go. Gotta close that game out.
You are right, each of the goalies has played well; Tirronen has settled in nicely after some shaky early season games. They're staying right in the middle of the pack which is where I expected they'd be.

The talent is there, maybe not the discipline just yet.

Thank you for the info, it should be a good game.

How many of these 17 year olds is Bigos going to kill?

I expect the Harvard game will be pretty good, too. Sadly can't make it due to work xmas party, will be DVRing.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Thought it was a solid game last night, unfortunately couldn't capitalize on the PP otherwise, would have been a nice NC win. Really like the way some of the underclassmen are playing, even if the stat sheet doesn't reflect it.

MCGrad what are the chances the seat in front of us are open for the game today? My buddy might invite his cousin to buy tix at the box office and I told him there is a high chance there will be a seat avail right near us. Hell you haven't had anybody next to you for half the games this year.

Looking forward to Drew getting a start in net tonight, seems like Dennehy knows how to do the right thing.

I competely agree with your post. I felt like Merrimack got some homecooking with the refs and Donato had the right to be all over the refs. I'm not sure about the seat situation but I think two seats near us might be open. I would definately have your cousin's buddy buy a ticket.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

Well yesterday's scrimmage was a yawn. I don't know who was less into the game the players or the fans. In good news it looks like Merrimack is going to play at Fenway. Although most people are sick of outdoor games I have never been and am excited to go.

At the very least it's great publicity for the school, probably a high-quality NESN HD production, etc. The players and coaches will be amped up for this as well. Hopefully there are some good seats available before they are completely overrun by BC/ND/PC/etc fans.

Also, I think it would be sensible to make it a Lowell/MC game instead on grounds that it's a rivalry, but we're clearly going to be second or third fiddle to the BC/ND game so whatever.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

I listened to the intermission interview from this weekend with Bertagna, and i must give him major props for sticking up for the teams that haven't been represented yet. I think showing a recruit that he has a good chance of going to an event like this even if he doesn't play for a "big market" team makes a big difference.

I still think it would be better to hold this in a football stadium (Harvard Stadium would be awesome) but it probably can't be done without the corporate muscle of the Red Sox.

Re: Merrimack 2012-13 Season thread

After a so so start to the second half Merrimack has a huge game tonight. Dennehy always talks about winning series and tonight is big. Excited that the game is on tv so I can actually watch and not get a headache.

Bigos Penalty tracker: 399 min. 1 min to go for MC record. 19 for Hockey East record. - He gets the school record next weekend and HE record by end of the month.

When Bigos breaks the record, which he surely does, do they put it on the big screen and does the sell-out crowd stand up and give him a standing O? LOL I remember the days of Tommy Costa...this is a HUGE accomplishment for Bigos and he should be rewarded with a standing ovation at the very least...perhaps even a trophy/plaque to honor the moment ;)

You will see me cheering in section 4 after Bigos gets a minor this weekend.

Edit, had the wrong info on Kyle. He's going to be missed on the D line next year, that's for sure. Hopefully he rises quickly in the Edmonton organization.

A couple big games on tap this weekend, couldn't ask for a better home set after the break!

Have we seen the end of the goaltending rotation? There were some in my opinion soft goals let up by Ras last night.
