Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Has to be a set back for the lakers.

But a good win for the Purple Eagles with a first year head coach.

PARODY at work once again.

Bauer (sp) played very well though. Should be first star.
Hard not to be first star when you make 44 saves and get the win.

Ummm... Parody is what "Weird Al" Yankovic does. ;) Parity is the word I think you were looking for. (Unless you were looking to parody the phrase, "Any given Sunday." ;) )

However, I wouldn't claim that this was a display of parity. Mercyhurst has been a clear favorite all year, but to go without a loss in league play -- even for only a 5-team league -- would have been simply amazing. Every once in awhile an opposing goaltender is going to have a great day and/or yours is not.

This 5 team league is getting stronger though, give them credit. Parity will be much more evident next year, all over D1.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

How about giving credit where credit is due. Niagara has a tie and win against Mercyhurst this year and yesterday's game was a 1-0 tilt till the empty netter. So...ya maybe a hot goalie more than once and maybe a team that can frazzle the Lakers.

Looking at players returning from their respective Olympic teams adding to their teams current class of recruits...I'm not sure we'll witness an increase in parity within the WCHA in 2010-2011.

UND may rise off the bottom of the conference though.

Yup....true...just an overall influx of 92 that will make it interesting for the former weaker teams, not to mention, strengthen the strong.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Kickoff in just under an hour. Ciampa in goal for the Lakers today (I think).

Good luck.

Mercyhurst 0 Wayne St. 0

Mercyhurst 0 Wayne St. 0

After 1 period, nothing accomplished.

SOG MC 15 WSU 6

Ciampa is in goal. She looks good and comfortable so far.

Mc 1 Wsu 1

Mc 1 Wsu 1

Scanzano scores on a shorthander from Cockell to tie it up. Mercyhurst has got to stay out of the penalty box!!! It seems like we have had a steady stream headed that way the whole period.

Mc 2 Wsu 1

Mc 2 Wsu 1

Bendus just sniped one in on the PP to put the Lakers up 2-1. Scanzano and Bram with the assists at 14:00.

Mc 2 Wsu 1

Mc 2 Wsu 1

Wayne St. really struggling right now to get anything going. MC back on the PP with 2:30 to go in the 2nd.

Mc 3 Wsu 1

Mc 3 Wsu 1

Steadman scores on a slow shot from the blue line that Park couldn't catch to put the Lakers up by 2. Just over a minute to play in the 2nd.

Mc 4 Wsu 1

Mc 4 Wsu 1

Scholes scores her 4th goal of the season at 17:04 to put the Lakers up 4-1. Lakers are on the PP again.

Final MC 4 WSU 1

Final MC 4 WSU 1

SOG 14-4 in the period.

Totally dominated by the Lakers today. Good to see.

Ciampa looked real good today. Nice to see her get a start. Hope Pattendon is ok. She was dressed but didn't play. Probably just giving Ciampa a start.

This shorty was the Lakers' 20th of the season, setting a new NCAA record previously held by the '04-05 Minnesota Golden Gophers.

Go Lakers!!
