Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

If you're asking what players they have coming back that had an impact with the team last season. You have Bram of course. She's just going to be better than her freshman year. Jesse Scanzano will be a beast like always. Bendus even though she 5'1 she's a hell of a player. Pattenden the starting goalie now with more experience. The defense is big this year. No one except Zgoda that under 5'9. The incoming class have a lot of potential. Just wondering do you go to any games?

Don't forget DeSutter, you will enjoy watching this top flight D play the game.

Mercyhurst still looks like the team to beat in the CHA, but will the winner of the CHA get a bid?

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

3 goalies, 2 frosh and a soph, a logjam of sorts? Mhurts fans, your thoughts

If Coach Sisti stays with what he has done since Women's Hockey inception at MC, Pattenden will be the starting goalie for the next 3 years barring injury.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

I think thats a givin, just based on how well Pattenden did for MC last year. How much ice do you think the incoming freshman goalie Lanthier will see?

She did fine in the W/L column, which is what counts the most, but her other stats were pretty ordinary. I'd guess it has been a while since the Lakers' top goalie has had such a low save %. That could be due to being younger on D.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Like you said at the end of the day for the team all that really matters is the wins and losses. The save % stat you mentioned, in addition to the young D, is also likely that she is young herself. I would expect her to be very confident in herself coming into this season and in turn have an even better showing in net this year. Which is bad news for the other goalies but great for MC as a whole

Mercyhurst has always had a capable back up goalie (with the exception of one year when both were hurt and the lacrosse goalie had to lace em up) but playing time has been very very limited for backups at Mercyhurst. I have no idea who is better, Lanthier or Ciampa, but whoever is considered 3rd will play in 10-0 blowouts for a period. Coaches decision. Thats what he gets paid the big bucks for.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Looks like she'll be a good asset for the defense. Great to see her part of the coaching staff. Can't wait for the season to start.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

has anyone seen them practice or anything yet? any info on how the team looks, who looks good etc... also i hear they have exhibition games this weekend?

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Team looks really good. All of the returning players look much quicker and better. The new transfer players are going to be huge pick ups for the this team. The freshman class will be contributing once they start playing games. Jesse Scanzano is a lot scarier now than she was in her the last 2 years she's played. She got faster. Pattenden looked sharp as she can. The CHA rookie of the year Bram has a lot more jump. She's going to be one of the best players on this team. First games Friday at 7, and Saturday at 2.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

I thought the Lakers looked really good tonight... Scanzano and Jones looked good, but thought the real star out there tonight was Bram. Excellent speed and made stuff happen out there, I really like her as a centerman this year. Also Pattenden looked great inbetween the pipes and a few of the new girls looked alright. Again though, If Bram has a good season I think it's safe to say the Lakers will have a good year

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

I will be here for the first period of the exhibition game against Guelph. I will give my thoughts later.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Scanzano with a shorthander about 9 min. in. Great moves to get the goal. Assist to LaCroix. Seconds later, LaCroix called for Interference. Guelph on a 5 on 3 for about 1:11.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Christopherson with a shorthander from Steadman. Nice work from the rookie. 10:00 to go in first.

Re: Mercyhurst Lakers 2009-2010

Period ended 2-0. Mercyhurst has been in the box with 4 penalties already. Scanzano looks real scarey good. Bendus showing hustle as I expected and Christopherson seems to be around the puck a lot. Pattendon has made some nice saves, particularly late in the period. 2nd Period starting Not much more from me as I have to leave soon.
