Re: Maine thread (cont) - Hobey Abbott goes Dancing

Any Hobey implications from tonight's stellar performance?
Can Milner win the Hobey?

I think Jack beating Abbott (and scoring one more point) and with Toothpaste boy sitting at home will help Jack. That being said, it could be a minor if any help. I cannot wait for the Hobey Ceremony. We need to pass the Gophers in something.

I think if anything this weekend hurt Jack. He didn't play well against Maine, yes he got a nice goal, and an empty net apple, but as for UMD beating Maine it was supposed to happen by ranks. Abbott came back his first game and got the bears off to a good start. By Jack not stepping up and getting blanked by BC I think it hurts his chances and boosts Abbott, having 2 more points in 2 less games is impressive.

Lol Abbott threw an absolute prayer from the blue line and luckily it went in, and was a shadow after that. I would not say he was the reason Maine got off to a good start against UMD. He really did nothing in that game.

Bummer for Jack that he couldn't find the stat sheet last night. He really played well and was by far the best skater on the ice for UMD, and was the only player who generated any offensive chances. I don't think any team in the NCAAs could have scored against BC last night. They played a hell of a game.

One thing we can agree on: the idea that this weekend wins or loses the Hobey for either player is silly.

.

he throws a lot of prayers on net.
you shouldda seen the prayers he threw last season agaisnt Michigan State about 7 seconds apart.

just because the camera angle picked up what Jack saw on his PP goal (his only point worth writing home about) does not eman that Spence did not see the same opening before he shot... as a matter of fact I would bet that he did see the opening, or else he would have passed.

Spence also averages 1 point per game against BC this season, that is one more point per game than Jackie

yeah, as it turned out, but had one of them put in 4 while the other was shut out, I have a good idea the one shut out would be done

Larry has an article in today's BDN pertaining to 4 - 4 in OT. Tim has been lobbying for this for the past few years. Other coaches don't like it because they feel it favors the more skilled team. If the other team is more skilled, why is there a tie? It appears there is more support for it this time around. The players, I'm sure would like it.

Keep it at 5x5 but go from 5 minutes to a 10 minute Overtime...and if it's a tie...so be it...but PLEASE NO SHOOTOUTS.

Both the NCAA and (especially) the NHL should go to 4x4 in regulation, if you ask me... There is just not enough room on the ice to accommodate five modern hockey players. It would be the best thing that's happened to the game since they *****-canned the two-line pass.
