Re: Maine thread (cont) - Hobey Abbott goes Dancing
The biggest factors are: Stats, Class, Scenario *meaning...did you propel a bottom dweller to success?, or in Maine/Spencer's case, bringing a program in a drought back to the NCAAs etc*, academics, and value to your team *would your team succeed at the same level this year without you?*
Your list and my list looks pretty similar.
Here are my
obviously unbiased requirements for the Hobey:
- Your first name must be Spencer
- You must play for a team wearing navy/baby blue
- Your head coach must be named Tim
- Academic achievement: Have a GPA > Chris Bourque's GPA at BU
- Bring your team from nowhere to the NCAAs. Obviously Connolly can't claim to have done this! When you have never won any championships, the big NCAA berth looks all that much more amazing. It's a tremendous accomplishment obviously.
- Class. Being a senior means you're better.
- Score a good amount of points. Total points are very important! But obviously if a guy has more goals then they are NOT important. Also, competition specifics in regards to who they score points/goals against will be considered as follows: UVM/UAH will not be discredited while ECAC teams will be.
- Value to team. Who wouldn't miss a Hobey finalist if he wasn't on your team? 57 D1 teams not from the state of Maine, that's who.
As you can see, Abbott pretty much nails every single category. He's a lock IMO!!!!!!! Give Hobey Abbott the trophy now!
