Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

Not a BC guy, but live in Boston. The Heralds hockey writer had an article a few days ago about the Denver hiring. Mentioned that Greg Brown had been one of the four finalists for that position. I was surprised that Brown was willing to take a job that far from New England. My thought is that Brown will be a strong candidate for the UConn job.

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

Sheesh, why is it that it matters. We should never have let Whitehead go if that is what matters.. :(
Lots of coaches have Masters, Leaman does, Bazin Does, Walshy did. Lots of schools require it. Does it matter, I don't know but you got one for some reason, does it matter:D

Well if that can't work, I think Cavanuagh of BC would be our best choice. He has a proven track record of recruiting and can recruit the right style of player that this team needs. Hate to look at BC for answers

Hate to say it... but it is BC's way of doing things.

Yeah it'd be a shame to look towards the most successful college hockey program in the nation the last 15 years.... ;)

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

Instead of Metcalf, why not Chris Imes?

I can see Grant being the volunteer assistant, I can't see him wanting to be behind the bench again full time. He was a consultant for Monty, coming in every month or so I assume, keeping informed via email and video I would guess. He still lives in bangor, right, he could come in every few weeks, work with the goalies for a day or two, maybe give the forwards and D some tips and advice, and then be back home enjoying life. Leaves you free to hire another coach/recruiter to be there fulltime.

the likely scenario should grant be brought into the fold by whomever takes over... he won't be out beating the bushes recruiting, but likely a day or two a week working with the goalies and perhaps on the bench during games. of course, that might not jibe with his escape to florida in the winters...

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Grant may come back. I think that's a huge pipe dream. If anything why wouldn't he help Jimmy in Denver?

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

Cav is not the answer. 0/20 on HC jobs and not close to what Maine needs. No. The players you say is exactly what maine needs and he gets is bs. of course we would like the Kreiders and Dumoulins of the world, the Atkinsons etc. They are not coming. they were going to BC since they were 10. My cat could have recruited them.

Bingo. That train has officially left the station. It's wishful thinking to believe otherwise ...

What exactly does this mean... Is it code for something?

The point was that someone said he us a great recruiter and getting these kids in. He is in a no win situation, kind of like muse was at BC. Gets zero credit...

The players that go to BC have been wearing BC hats since 10 and were like shooting fish in a barrel. Kreider, Atkinson, Dumoulin, Hayes types were going to BC and if cab was at Maine, zero difference. Don't think he will get those kids to come yo Maine, won't happen

He lost out at PC, UML, NU and others. Not the answer for Maine.

BC is not Maine and SW and the guys who built it don't want it to be

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

College Hockey News reporting UAA has 4 finalists to interview for the head coaching position. Campbell Blair is not one of them.

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

Most likely when a NEW Coach comes in,he will hire his own Assistant Coaches, and that won't include Corkum or Kerlucke...not like Denver keeping their Assistants after hiring Montgomery.

Re: Maine Summer 2013 - Pizza Season

Just a heads-up: Brian Flynn on TV tonight v the Bs. He seems to be making a good case for himself in the NHL (granted, Nyquist has a bigger challenge in Detroit).

I hope the Bs destroy the Sabres tonight and send Boston fans home happy . . . but if Flynn roofs one on Tuukka, I won't complain.

non-Maine-related: I hope Bergeron really is ready. The Bs are in. They need Bergeron, but it isn't worth rushing him...

If he's smart he'll keep Corkum.

He got the start for Buffalo

Look at BC's record from the '91-'92 season through the '96-'97 season ('94-'95 was Jerry's first season). It wasn't pretty (80-116-22).

Could your cat have recruited guys like Reasoner, Gionta, Farkas, Mottau, Bellefeuille, Orpik, Kolanos, Kobasew, Eaves, Voce, Allen, Forrest??? They all came to BC by Jerry/Cavs while BC was floundering and up to 2000.

Who recruited those guys? Oh yea, no one did… they were lining up to come to BC since they were 10 because of all the BC success from '91-'97.

I don't know if Cav would be a good fit at Maine or not, but your reasoning hoky on Cavs ability to recruit is just plain asinine.
