Maine Recruits: When Ashes Fall, Legends Rise

Updated our recruit stats again and the top uncommited/unsigned 04's since the 1st round of the CHL playoffs is over with. I also removed Nate Tivey (Quinnipiac), Ryan Abraham (Michigan Tech) and Andrei Loshko (Seattle Kraken) from the top uncommited/unsigned 04's table. Moved Peterson to 2025, Motew to 2025/2026, Johnson and Shea to 2026.

We can cross off Patrick Thomas(LC) and Blake Smith(LD) from the CHL ‘04 list.

Noticed that Tyler Fukakusa of RIT has entered the portal. He was picked for 3rd team all AHA team. He lead RIT in scoring. He won 56% of his face offs after winning 407 face offs this year which ranked him 3rd nationally. His face off stats are nearly identical to Harrison Scott’s.

He is a 5’11” 180 lbs. left shot center with the following description: Speedy, dangler, smooth hands, elusive, crafty, good stick handler, great work ethic, good back-checker, good penalty killer

Seems like a great fit for what Maine needs. Wonder if Maine is contacting him?

Nifty stickhandling give and go: https://www.instagram.com/ritmhky/reel/DGZmMw9s9Bj/?api=澳门pg电子网站【问:WS99.NET】.nsbh&hl=zh-cn

If Maine could get him they should ask him to bring Matthew Wilde along with him.

This would be a great pickup.

Matthew Wilde now in the portal too, so that would work out well. Wilde was 2nd in points on RIT, but 1st in points per game. He lead RIT in goal scoring. He has played with Fukakusa since the last four years in junior hockey even. So no doubt they would like to go to the same team.

Matthew Wilde is a big LW at 6’2” 205 lbs and was all AHA first team despite missing first 8 games due to injury. He is described as high skill, quick release, great hands, plays heavy, physical, srong at the net front, elite shot, sniper, high hockey IQ, gets to open areas, long reach, protects puck with his body, needs to improve foot speed

This seems like two types Barr would love, Barr type player. Could see Wilde bringing what skill set Makar did to the line up. Fukakusa would be bring what skill set Breen brought to the line up.

Alexander Zetterberg is now in the portal from BU. He’s from Sundsvall, Sweden where Boija is from. NZ has him rated as a 4.25, so he’s considered a top prospect.

He’s a RC that is 5’8” and 165 lbs. He’s described as : small and speedy, skilled hands, quick release, good playmaking ability, smooth skater, very agile, slippery, works left mid wall on power play, strong work ethic, wins puck battles

Seems like a right handed version of Lyndon Breen. Hopefully Maine is checking on him since there is now two openings at center and one at RW with Niemo going to the portal. Zetterberg would represent a great replacement for Breen and like contend for centering one of the top two lines. Would be very interesting to see him on a line with Nadeau.

Sucks about Niemo heading to the portal. Guy was pure gold in shootouts. Surprised he didnt score more on a regular line.

He knew what he was going to do in a shootout and wasn't ahead of his hands. In the game situations he didn't react fastly and at times lost the handle when finishing moves were needed.

However, I thought he was looking at playing virtually every game next season at least on the 3rd line or possiblly the 2nd line.

Maybe there was a work ethic issue in practice that we didn't know about that kept him in and out of Barr's doghouse.

Since every league has now started their playoffs I updated all the stats again.

Can you swap the regular season gap, g, a, and tp for the nhl draft column. Would rather see that when it pops up.

And Motew is a 2025. He wouldn’t waste another year of eligibility in USports. So no sense to say he would be a 2026.

Edit: if you read this link they say he will be playing at Maine next season, which means this fall he will be in Orono. https://thehockeynews.com/ncaa/latest-news/simon-motew-commits-to-maine

This one says this fall too: https://chl.ca/ohl-rangers/article/...-announces-commitment-to-university-of-maine/

Evan Van Gorp should move into the 2026 with Poul Anderson. And McKinnon isn’t far behind those two. These three will put pressure on the 05 group of forwards. Seems like they are better than the 05s we have listed.
Skillwise I agree that he should come in 2026, but when he first committed articles online said he would join Maine for the 2027-28 season, so I slotted him as a 2027.

Another guy we should keep track of is Peter Reynolds. I don’t think he has committed anywhere yet that I can see. He seems to fit what Maine is looking for. Seems like a great two way left shot center man. He is from Fredericton, NB which is very close to Orono. So shortest commute to ncaa games for his family. Would only have 3 years of eligibility since he played USports one year at UNB.

Peter Reynolds(Saint Johns(QMJHL)), 1/20/03, LC, 5’ 10” 165 lbs, NZ 4.0, high skill, quick processing, elite passer, excellent skater, puck possessor, plays head up, dangerous playmaker, deceptive release, hard shot, plays with poise
