Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Anyone know to what extent,if any,Corkum is out there recruiting..?(Something in that regard certainly seems to have changed for the better since his arrival.)

As surprising as some would like to believe Kerluke has landed some pretty big fish since Grant left....Highlighted by Austin Watson..too bad he didn't honor his commitment.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Doesn't "landing a big fish" mean they've gotta at least show up?

If getting a verbal from Watson is all Kerluke has on his resume... well... that's probably not good. Especially when you take into account the lot of players who have committed and then backed out.

He got the big one hooked but the line snapped!

Honestly, a lot of these guys "committed" to Maine to simply use as a bargaining tool with the teams that held their rights. It was pretty likely that some of these guys were never going to show up on campus.

Pretty much sums it up as of late, and that goes for alot of other College Hockey programs in Div.1

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

perfect name for a Maine player... I wonder if there is a USHLer named Rick Umile that "we" can pick up.

If Parker goes by the nickname Jack, you can be sure Walshy will roll over in his grave knowing “Jack” Parker is coming to Maine.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Parker was the best 92 forward in the Atlantic District a couple of years ago, from what folks have said he made the jumped to early and had some tough adjustments in the USHL. If he gets comfortable in Maine? Maine just stole a hockey player because this kid has all the intangibles "when he wants to play for someone"

This seems like an accurate description for Parker. He was a really highly regarded player. His numbers dont seem too great though. Then again, the US is a tough league to play in...should be interesting to see how he does for you guys.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

nice article. nice pick up. Like I keep telling everybody we will be fine. I dont understand the panic? Sure we haven't won championships lately but the hockey is exciting and things will get better.

OK, you have to be a gag poster. Or on drugs.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

I'm just a diehard fan that supports the program win or lose!!!!
Win or lose...well could you sum up Tim Whitehead from year 1 to the present time...especially the last 6 years...with the exception of Gustav Nyquist the recruiting trail has been lean...poor recruiting year after year takes a toll on a program and that goes with the way Whitehead runs the team and well expect more losses then wins.

Here is an article from the BDN today on recruits Swann Boisvert and Dylan Gareau.

One is gonna play for the Pembroke Lumber Kings...
QUestion: has Maine ever had anyone come from that team before and succeed?

Hint:
2 pretty impressive records were set/tied by Black bear Former Lumber kings... most assists in a game.
most points in a career
(and most natural hat tricks in 5 minutes against Blaine Lacher in a National CHampionship game)

I'll bite...PK and who?

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

no... but the one who scrored the assists compared himself to PK when he scored 5 in a game.. very honored to share that record with Pauk Kariya.
oh come on... which black bear was "well known" for millions of assists from the blue line? (actually, in this game.. most of the assists were from his own defensive end, or just dumping the puck before a change... every time he passed it, someone else scored with it)... and the joke was that he never got assists....

The Lumber Kings were Troy Barnes (mr. assist machine)... and Jim Montgomery

(Bellamy also scored a goal in the Barnes assist game)
