Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Huh?
I'll trade you 2 BC skill players for your two 'non-skilled' Diamond and Mangene. You pick any two you want.

I guess I just get frustrated. BC just got swept by Maine, but Maine still hasn't beaten a top ranked team on the road in a million years. BC has a lot of skill players and no holes in the line up compared to Maine.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Nah. We want 3 skill guys and goalie to be named later. ;) Go fish
Jeeezus... win a couple games and Rip Van Winkle comes out of the woodwork. :D

Kreider and Hayes for Diamond... final offer!
(we're missing an attitude like Diamond's on this team)

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

............Who's going to score next year? Flynn and Abbott are the only real skill guys. Diamond and Mangene are very gritty hockey players that are fun to watch, but they get their points by tenaciousness, not by being overly skilled. You need skill players. Merrimack has great defense and goaltending this year. All their struggles have been because they miss the skill guys like Da Costa, Cucci and People on this thread last year were complaining about where the scoring was going to come from this year.Barton. Teams need skill players, which Maine will be seriously lacking next year.

People were complaining last year about where the scoring was going to come from this year. Flynn, Abbott and Diamond lead Hockey East. Maine has 6 players in the top 30 in scoring. Both BC and BU have 7.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Um...Flynn had 100 points going into the season. Abbott had a great junior season. Big difference. Flynn will finish his career at Maine in the top 10 of Division I scoring in school history. Quite an accomplishment. Abbott will finish his career as one of the top 25 scorers of all-time at Maine. There are no freshman-juniors that will sniff that much success. Sorry.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Scoring is probably going to be a problem next year, but the real issue Maine has had for a long time is goaltending and D... I don't see that improving very much, on paper.

We have seen that this season...if you don't take care of your own end first...well even in the wins you see the d-men have trouble bringing and getting the puck out of there own end...turnovers,lackadaisical no look passing and half hearted passing up the boards have put Maine in the hole quickly and Sullivan needs to control his rebounds and positioning...and needs to make the game changing save that you come back to later in the game and say that save kept us alive...(for the first time since at Maine,Sullivan came up with two big saves in the 3rd period of the 2nd game vs. BC)...lets hope that Matt Morris can come in a make a difference in making the #1 job his or pushing for starts from the get-go. It will be a work in progress next season...low scoring/questionmark defense and netminding...

I just cringe at the thought of a seeminly talented and previously well coached goalie in Matt Morris coming to Maine and getting totally phked up by the pizz poor staff at UMaine we are stuck with right now. I hope I'm wrong but dont think I am. I wuz wrong once, many yearz ago.

I cringe with the Goaltending also...I don't see the pair of Sullivan/Ouellette taking Maine anywhere's soon...Morris will bring hope, but will he rise to seize the spotlight..? Uh...my feeling is NO with TW and the Sky is the Limit with a New Coach(imo)...but next season can be labeled...Rebuilding 101....so with or without a new netminder in the mix,Maine Hockey 2012-13 could be in for a long season.

Kimball Union defenseman Doyle Somerby informed me he has committed to Boston University after the game tonight which he attended. He had an offer from Maine

I guess that sweeping BU didn't help much with him. If he wants to play for a fool like Parker then have it!

You know, Parker always sells "cough, cough" 'BU hockey tradition' to his recruits. But when you think about it and when its all said and done, who in their right mind wants to play for a man who has essentially lost it? Kids are too young to know the truth.....too easily swayed. But if you listened to the interview in between 2nd and 3rd period with Noonan, it all becomes perfectly clear.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

And signing up to play for Timmay is so much better? Half your fanbase wants a new coach.....

So what bumbley. Maybe not the greatest of coaches in the world, but apparently not insane.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Agreed with acs64 (I never thought I'd write that.) JackPa has gone senile and most of his former players hate him. Why play for a coach like that?

Tradition...thru their Parents/Grand Parents...TV exposure and winning makes it a tough choice NOT to go to BU or BC....he did lose it Saturday night, but again he does it every season...it's a NO Big Deal to him or the Bertagnea who runs Hockey East...oh you'll hear he's sorry/etc. and Hockey East will put a Statetment out that "Thats not how we Conduct ourseleves @ Hockey East"....and in a few days all will be forgotten.

A one week suspension would be more appropriate for this type of behavior.
