Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Defenseman Stephen Cochran of Thayer Academy and currently the Bay State Breakers has committed to Maine. First reported by Walrus on the regular Maine hockey thread. He's 6'6", 220 lbs. He's a 1996 birthdate; Heisenberg lists him for 2016.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Has anyone heard that the Maine Staff was in Massachusetts during the Holidays down time checking out Goaltenders? I was told this by a few friends down there that they heard a rumor that Maine was sniffing around the Bay State area.

There were a bunch of tournaments down here so I'm sure the Maine staff was at some of them. As far as looking for a goalie, I doubt it would be for next year. Most of the kids in the tournaments are recruits for two or three years down the road. I really think goaltending is the least of Maine's problems right now. We need two more good forward recruits for next year.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

My guess would be both goalies are getting full rides. So are you going to have 3 full rides going to goalies? Romeo appears to be the better goalie right now, Morris was hurt playing hockey, you gonna kick him to the curb? Scorers are far more important

Not saying to cut Morris or to dump on Romeo,in fact he..{Romeo}..has improved quite a bit since the beginning of the season,my question was pertaining to looking at FUTURE Goaltenders, like 2 years from now. And with that said,Maine has to be on the look out for anyone that can score/that can defend in their own end...they need "help" everywheres on the Roster.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Maine just got a commitment from Jack Moran........98 born, 6-4, 210# D-man from North Reading. Red & Co. making some nice in-roads into the MA prep scene.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Saw on Twitter that Jack Moran of the Winchendon School has committed to Maine.

Defenseman whose was drafted in the 14th round by the Omaha Lancers. 6'2" 190lbs. Born in '98.

Here's what USHR said about him after a Prep Showcase Tournament

Jack Moran, D (#8, Winchendon, Fr., 6-2/190, ‘98): Moran has received a lot of attention since the St. Seb’s Xmas Tournament, where the ‘98 showed impressive upside. He has great size, strength, and escapability with the puck. Moran, from North Reading, Mass., also has decent speed but needs to lengthen his stride and improve his quickness and lateral movement. He has an above-average slap shot and makes a crisp, accurate pass. His hockey sense is good and should mature with time. A sure fire D-I prospect who is getting a lot of looks.”
