Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

New Maine commitment: Dan Perez, 6-4, 200# forward.....94 birthdate.

https://twitter.com/pmoneyy17

http://easternhockey.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=7942802&seasonid=12870

Seems like a decent replacement for the recently decommitted Joe Widmar.

He's going to be a handful in front of the net on the power play. I really like what Red & co have done so far, gotten a lot of kids from non-tradition places/backgrounds.

Thanks for posting. It will be interesting if Fossier and Shea come next year. I think both could use an extra season of juniors.

This is slightly off topic (but does effect recruiting), but I'd be curious to know people's opinion on Shore, Hutton, Norman, Tegeler, and Campbell coming back next year. Obviously with Shore and Hutton you would think the teams that drafted them would want them to sign. Norman is a senior academically and I believe Tegeler could be as well. I just don't think Campbell is good enough, if he can't get in the team this year I can't see the sense in keeping him around.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Wish there was a bit more chat on here regarding recruiting as it really IS the future of Maine Hockey. Here's a nice article on Jay Leach from today's BDN:

http://bangordailynews.com/2014/11/...lots-license-to-aid-recruiting/?ref=SportsBox

Nice to see a coach thinking of ways to stretch the recruiting dollar and gain an advantage over other schools in the never-ending recruiting wars.

I also got to thinking........Maine really needs to make in-roads into more fertile recruiting grounds.......the USNDP, BCHL, and prep programs like Shattuck St. Mary's. Hopefully Travis Walsh at the USNDP and Oliver Wahlstrom at Shattuck St. Mary's will pay off in some way down the road.

Yeah, sad to see it so quiet. I disagree on USNDP and some of the prep programs. I want to see Maine have the best 19-24 year olds, not the best 16 year olds. I really like what Red & co have done so far, we do need a couple more studs up front for next year though.

We need the BEST....whether they be 16 or 24.

Here is a link about Jake Pappalardo...

http://overtheboards.net/maine-adds-proctor-97-scorer-jake-pappalardo/

Mentions some info about him, his playing style, etc... Mentions some teammates that are drawing recruiting attention.

Other tidbits mentioned is a younger Pappalardo from NH that is also top rated for his year. And, a blurb about former bear Todd Jenkins son also being a top rated recruit as well.

Don't see any Goaltenders on this List, hopefully they are looking around...never can have enough imo...plus as of this point...Morris/Remeo don't seem to be the answer, early yet I admit...plus we have yet to see Nik Nugnes in action(injured knee/starting to skate a few weeks ago?). You don't win without a Game Changer in Net...once a Tradition @ Maine is now a distant memory.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Hopefully he is the real deal. Fossier and Drobot haven't put up the greatest numbers this year which is a little concerning.

Drobot had been injured. Something tells me that we may never see Fossier in Orono.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: All Are Welcome.......

Funny how everyone's b*tching about recruiting yet no one is discussing any of these recruits.:confused:

This new Danish one looks pretty good to me. Some of the others do too.

I want to see a goaltender up on the board soon though.

I saw on twitter neither Fossier or Spicer are going to sign letters of intent this signing period. Maine desperately needs two more forwards who can put the puck in the net for next fall. I do like the looks of Rai. I'm not sure on Perez as his team is way ahead of everyone else in the league. I think goaltending is the least of our problems right now.

I think Spicer will, not sure if it happens next year though. I'm not sure on Fossier. It sounds like at one point he was really good for his age group, but who knows where things have gone wrong this year. Maybe he is injured or something and will get back on track.
