Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

My guess would be Timmay doesn't think he could help the team, again from what I saw I agree. Tim cares, he just can't do anything about it. You think he wants to lose his job?

I think his jobs lost. Its his to win back, he just can't do anything about it.

He hasn't lost it, he has a contract for 2 more years. The Admin won't fire him in this economy, simple as that. 2 more years of this crap. If so, its my last year with season tickets

Do you know what it would take to buy him out?

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Just like this is not Walsh's maine teams of old, this is not Unions teams of years gone by.

Several of the teams the knowitall guy mentioned who will kick unio's *** wont in fact kick it.
this is a very goo team with exceptional coaching. very good recruiting as well
They won because they are a better team.

Yes, Union won because they were a MUCH better team than Maine.
I was responding to the sentiment that Union won because Maine looked past them... this was simply not the case.

Then where do you put Maine? Below D 3? In one breath you say Union is going to get their butts kicked by every team in ECAC and then in the next, you say that they are a very good team.

Union is good, very good and will not get their tails kicked by the teams you mentioned.

Who cares? This is a Maine thread if you want to talk about Union they have a thread. This is too funny though Union beats a terrible Maine team and now they are going to go undefeated on their way to a NC and on top of that they want to be blown by Maine fans.

Not true. It is a Maine thread, and I was responding to comments on this thread.

Your history of no teeth will come in handy though in April

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Wasn't Michigan state worse than Maine last year, not sure why everyone thinks Michigan state is a powerhouse. Reputation is everything, I guess

Michigan State had a nightmare year last year for a great many reasons - injuries, suspensions, lack of chemistry, lack of size, lack of offense among them. Not to mention three NHL draft picks - notably Tim Kennedy (Sabres) and Justin Abdelkader (Red Wings) skipping their final year of eligibility.

Those issues, at least through one exhibition and two official games, are way back there on the side of the interstate in the rear-view mirror. What you will see this weekend is a young and very talented team.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Come again?

I have no idea what that meant.

Some n00b gray-repped me for this?

I'm inviting the guy(?) to clarify himself, because the point isn't coming across as clearly as s/he thinks.

Regardless, whoever you are, I'll pass your feedback about my English skills to my editor. :)

That and they just swept Clarkson.......2-0 is probably better than 0-2.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Union has a great team but if you look at the title of this thread its about MAine not Union. If you want to talk about the games, make a Union Maine thread and chat away.

Exactly.

No offense Union fans, but most of us could give a crap about your program.......we've got our minds on other stuff.

That said......good luck the rest of the season. I envy any fans that still have HOPE for a successful season. :(

I wonder if King James has ever heard of the LAW OF DIMINISHING RETURNS.($$$$)

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

I'm a little confused. You aren't powerless to create the change. Tim just has to be bought out, then someone else can miraculously save the program. Just pool your considerable resources and buy Tim out. It shouldn't be that hard, considering there is at least one wealthy VIP who posts in this thread regularly. Fortunately, he's not an Internet blowhard who likes to make a lot of noise while hiding behind anonymity. An Internet blowhard would scream about the coach, but a VIP would simply pick up the phone and tell President Kennedy he wants a change. If necessary, that VIP would open his estimable checkbook and inquire what the amount should be. An Internet blowhard would tell students he will give them 20 bucks and a case of beer to bring a sign to the game; a VIP wouldn't care about the printing costs and would arrange to have 5000 signs made and either hand them out before the game or get there early and put them in the seats himself (or have flunkies do it, since a VIP wouldn't waste his time with menial labor).

Many of you are influential donors who have season tickets, right? So why haven't you already notified President Kennedy of your convictions? Why is Tim still behind the bench? Just buy him out.

Here's President Kennedy's phone number, in case some of you misplaced it: (207) 581-1512. While you're at it, maybe you guys can buy Blake out, too.

Get to work. Next Friday's game is televised...if I tune in before the Minnesota/North Dakota game I expect to see a blizzard of "Fire Tim" signs...or if you're really influential, a new coach.

Or you can continue to post anonymously to an Internet message board.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

I know the post wasn't directed at me, because I don't have deep pockets, or any influence to speak of.

Still, I'll defend my actions on USCHO. And I'll do it this way. The mob actually performs a valuable service to Black Bear hockey. Not just in a long-term sense. In the short-term, the only real chance Maine has against legitimate competition is if that competition looks past them on the schedule. And if the sort of talk on the USCHO boards doesn't get someone to look past Maine, I'd sure like to know what would.

Operation 30L: two down, twenty-eight to go :p

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Like you do?

Collar up.

*yawn*

I thought my identity was known on the board. "Someone" even registered as me and posted using my real name in a UMaine thread. But my post obviously wasn't aimed at you - you have no power or influence at Orono.

I'm sure that James, Whitehead and Cosgrove are very happy about that! ;)
