Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

I'm not too worried about Darling missing the Union games. It's Union. Last years' Maine team beat them 3-1 and 5-1.

I hope Whitehead takes this opportunity to see what Sirman can do. I think we all know that Dave Wilson is not the long term solution for this season.

Hegarty being out for three games doesn't seem like a big deal either.

I know it reflects badly on the team when players get suspended but get over it. Whatever they did they did it last spring. This isn't the end of the world or the end of the season.

Hopefully Tanner House is OK to play but even if he isn't I don't think Union should be too much trouble for this Maine team.

Bentley shouldn't have been last season, but look what happened.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

gscott, I think you should walk on in Orono. You could nail down a spot in the top two lines easily.

if i only had some remaining eligibility! unfortunately, the clock started ticking for me back in 1994!

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Can we keep a running tally of games lost to suspension this season?

Lets post and over/under. I say 20. We are at 5 already so that seems like a reasonable number. :rolleyes:

Nice optimism. Get off the bong. They'll be d a m n lucky to get a split. I wouldn't be shocked at all if they lost both say 2-1 and 1-0. Sad way to start the season. But not unexpected.

Not gonna happen. We'll talk again on Saturday night.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

~~~ This is TOTAL BS....no need of it at all...over & over....this is the 3rd time that Darling has been reprimanded...what's his deal....better then his team-mates???? He should be given the heave-ho next infraction.....no need of it at all......and this has been going on every year......wake up WHITEHEAD....it's your team...take care of it....Sh*t happens,but make it NOT happen with some back-bone decisions....make these guy's know if you screw up your GONE.....not 2 & 3 game suspensions.....JUST GOES TO SHOW there need's to be major changes to the UMaine HKy program and in the A.D. office......boy what a Shi*ty day.......and there is 34 games yet to be played.......BS....TOTALLY
c'mon, you don't know what they did, or what they did not do.
It might be something like talking during a pregame speech. Or getting caught with a soda pop.
Back when you and I were at Maine, you know full well that the hockey players got away with pretty much everything they did.
I wish you guys all knew what Sill andCzuba did to get shown the door.
Timmy is ruling like a petty tyrant, punishing guys for NOTHING, just to make it look like he rules with an iron fist.
Let me say, what ever it was that Darling and Hegarty did...if a couple of the darlings had done it, it would have been overlooked. Maine had a player 2 years go who did whatever he wanted and Tim did not dare bench him.
I just want the team to win. If Darling and Hegarty didn't break the law they need to be on the ice.
Ya right...get real....they got suspended because they frigged up...Whitehead,ha I don't care what his MO is anymore...he has more or less in the last 4 seasons ruined a Top HKy program.......he may or may not be on thin ice...but do you really expect this man to pull this program out of the ruins he's more or less single handly inflicked himself??? Come on yourself. IMO.
Why can't you tell us what happened if its not that bad? Tell us what the tryant is making into a big deal. Who was the player two years ago? Lets hear it if it's no big deal.
Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.
It's the eve before the first game of a new season and I can't wait for the puck to drop. Based on what I saw at the Blue/White game last week, this could be a very interesting team to watch this year. As to where they're going to finish in Hockey East (1st through 10th), I'm not making any predictions, but I'm planning on having a lot of fun watching it all unfold. Go Blue! Go Black Bears!!
Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.
anyone know anything about this slovakian kid that is trying to walk on?
http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/story.php?id=288138&ac=PHspt
i assume the two slovaks are walking on are Val Poticny & Richard Randa... if so, they played at King's-Edgehill School in Nova Scotia last year
I believe one is P., Valerian (forward)
and the other is R, Richard (defenseman)
R., Richard GP-42 G-5 A-29 Pts-34 PIM-115
INCH has them ranked higher than us in the preseason power rankings! (Not to say that MEANS anything, but worth the insertion before we act like we're playing Merrimack's B team)
I'm just saying, this year's Union team is worst than last and this years Maine team is better than last, and Maine didn't do too shabby against them last year.
p.s. Larry says Tanner House is out for 2-3 weeks..
Yeah, don't get to excited about them. I liked Randa in the blue white as he always went to the front of the net on Offense, but didn't backcheck much and couldn't keep up. The other guy I hardly noticed
thanks... that's more what i wanted to hear... these guys numbers are from their high school teams, not even juniors, or midget aaa, so i figured they'd be a bit inflated...
