Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

There sure to f is a good reason to be so negative when someone trys to put him in the same group as those other players. Damon was a very average player, nothing more

Damon had 15 G and 20 assists his final yr. (2005-2006) at Maine. That would have tied him for the team lead last yr. with Devon Shore at 35 pts., and he led Maine in scoring the previous year, 2004-2005. :)

BFD....Shore sucked for the most part of last year. As menioned, Damion had Leveille to support him. He was decent for a local kid but in no way can he be mentioned with those other guys, who were legit hickey players

Seems to me he's calling him a very good player....objection ur Honor !!!!, He was an average player that cant be lumped in with the talented players he has listed is what I am saying. Chit he may have been better than some of todays crop, but so wasn't hammer hands Rob Bellamy and the cheerleaders firchrysakes.

Yup, that was my point. You don't lead an NCAA tourney team in scoring, as and AVG. player.....And you don't consistently play on a teams top two lines with players like Josh Soares, Michel Léveillé, and Greg Moore, as an AVG. player. I understand his limited skating ability, but he could bury and dish a puck.

Seth Woodcock was on the PM Jab talking about the Ice Breaker yesterday, but also made mention that Maine was organizing a bid to host a regional in Portland.

The ice breaker is a feeler to see if they could get the support for a regional bid according to the AD

And I think if the Icebreaker does well attendance-wise, and the people organizing this thing get it and the other tied-in events to go off without a hitch, the NCAA would look at Portland as a location much more favorably.

I'm not sure it will though. It seems like they are trying really hard to sell tickets. For the UNH game at CCCC there are still entire sections available for purchase. Hopefully both events wind up having good crowds.

The IceBreaker is on a weekend and the UNH game is in the middle of the week. Somewhat different.

Re: Maine Hockey: Summer 2015 on the Stillwater

Anyone know if they are going to let fans leave and reenter between games at the Icebreaker?

I'm sure they will try to trap folks so they spend more money at the arena. I was looking at the arena maps on ticketmaster and only about half the seats have been sold. $35 is a little steep but I'm still shocked ther aren't more people planning on attending. Hopefully it isn't a disaster for the program financially.

I'm not. Unless Maine makes an NCAA tournament in the next year or two (yeah, right), my prediction is that the hockey team starts getting outdrawn by the basketball team. And not because the basketball team starts pulling in 2,500 a night.

Basketball at the cross center for $10 a ticket is a great experience, and seeing how it's less than half the cost of a hockey ticket I wouldn't be surprised it basketball does develop more of a following and start outdrawing hockey.
