Too bad Lomberg wasn't playing last night, Black Bears probably would have squeeked out the win. Bertanga may have cost Maine a trip to the NCAA tourney with that call....

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

So basically when Maine gets ahead near the end of a game they should just stop the clock and send the teams off the ice.... game over. Guess what, the other guys keep playing hard!! How dare they ???!!! And with so much on the line as was the case last night. CHerist, Timmy spent years teaching them how to lose , at least give Red a season to unlearn that behavior
I think most folks lack patience. No one(maybe you but I think that was in jest) thought this team was going to compete for much of anything this year. Transition year from Timmay to Red but once folks saw Red got some quick results people wanted old time Maine hockey once again. Never mind that the D is pretty much all freshman, never mind one line is all freshman, never mind the goalie couldn't really win the job until 2nd semester Jr year, etc etc, . I still can't believe the turnaround when you really think about it. The team was so bad last year I wouldn't(different than couldn't) go to games, it just made me mad. On the other hand you have to put teams away when you have the lead with a minute left. 4 of the last 5 they have given up a goal late, thats not good.

It's tough to see NU winning tonight with their two best defensemen and second best center out of the lineup again.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

that win left them in the second after some fairly sloppy defense by all of the players on the ice. This team is finding it has to focus/drive for a full 60 minutes to compete with the big boys, that is for sure.

And I was hoping this sort of thing would have gone with Red as coach. If I start reading quotes in the paper about "lessons learned", I'm gonna shoot somebody.

There are dmen who Red Gendron didn't recruit who don't belong on a Division I roster. Plain and simple. One pairing continues to pinch and get caught out of position.

Agree,, well said. It takes time. And, CHR is absolutely right. We have some carnage it will take time to flush out.

Well, you never know, but I'm hoping they won't! It's too bad that Northeastern isn't at full strength, but every night is always a challenge and nothing is ever a given and that's why they play the games. In a way it was kind of nice that Lomberg was out yesterday so that it evened things up a little bit, but really missing those core guys like you have out has to be rough. Hopefully they'll make it back in the lineup for the playoffs and be able to represent Hockey East in the NCAA's, knock on wood. I'm hoping Maine plays a great game and comes home with 3 points out of the weekend.

good point, like the 2000 HE title game. but maine fans probably think mottau slipped on a banana peel.

J.d just a question but do you ever shut yer yap? thanks for making your point 345 times in this thread but keep making it so everyone gets your point

So who's lost the Maine audio feed? Funny, since the Northeastern video plays just fine, and they're both Stretch Internet streaming. But one works, and the other doesn't. So I have to conclude it's a problem on the UMaine end.

I lost it too.

The northeastern video is on, but quite choppy for me. I am watching in SD and still choppy.

Maine caught a break on that check. Not sure if that was a leg check that the officials missed.

Then the call in favor of Maine to go to the power play gave Maine momentum. I can imagine Gendron was a little PO'd at his players in between periods.

I can't believe both those Northeastern goals the defensive positioning. Both times Shore looks like the in front d man. The first he abandons the guy and O'Connor is watching the guy he should have covered drift ten feet up the slot and bury it. The second one there are no defensemen in sight and Shore again looks the part of the in front D man.

I can't imagine that is how the d system is drawn up with the x's and o's. Looked to me like Maine was running around with no sense of communication/positioning/etc... on those first two goals.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Penalty on Rutt and Northeastern capitalizes. Down 3-2

Yeah, 4th man back on the NU odd man rush so he decides to check someone well away from the puck after the shot went wide. ??? So Rutt puts them down a man and then nobody covers a guy lets him go to the net front all alone. Kind of a rough way the team is playing in front of Oullette tonight. All 3 NU goals were from just outside the crease, about as close as you can get to a goalie.
