Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Question...what do you guys think is worse, $50 tickets or $8 for an absolute rubbish broadcast. This is the first one I've watched in a while and it's worse than I remembered. New AD has a lot of work on his hands.

Maine 1-0 after the first period.

The one goal scored was a nice pass by Lomberg to open space where Hutton was sprinting to the net front and redirected it.

Maine carried the play that period. They earned a few power plays and had some decent chances on the power play. Both team playing more physical/chippy tonight. It seems like these teams don't care for each other. Lomberg and Collins into many battles already so far tonight. I like a couple shifts that Campbell had where he was using physical play to keep the puck in deep and earning an icing.

2-1 with 4 minutes left in the second.

Maine's 4th line just had a solid shift where they forced Merrimack to ice it. And Merrimack calls a timeout. Maine's 4th line looks great this game.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Maine 2-1 after 2nd period.

Merrimack goalie called for a dive. Then stays down on the ice. Then leaves the game. So not sure what really happened to that guy.

Maine is unable to capitalize on nearly 4 minutes of straight power play time. Overall Maine seems to be controlling the play and there were a lot of shifts throughout the second half of the period where Maine had Merrimack guys out there for long shifts.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

2-2

merrimack scores on a 5x3 and still has a lott of 5x4 time left.

Refs have completely lost the plot in this one. With that said though, why wouldn't you have Hutton and O'Connor out there for 20 second of a 5x3?

not sure. Thought he might call his time out and get his best three out there....

Phew......and thanks to Notre Dame for taking down Providence. Go BU tomorrow!

Wow, the penalties stacked up for Maine that period. Merrimack scores on the 5-on-3. Then the goal is waived off for Merrimack.

Then Shore buries one inside a minute left to close on the win.

This was a very strange hockey game. Maybe it was because I was watching through this little fuzzy screen on my computer... but I really couldn't see a lot of the calls the way the official did.

In any case Merrimack really worked hard that last period and gave Maine all they could handle.

Good grind out wins both nights for Maine.

4 points is 4 points. :D

Interesting game. MC got Maine frustrated and tried to take advantage. Maine lucked out on the reviewed goal and Devin puts in a clutch goal. Big 4 point weekend, need some points next weekend now

I can't really remember but I think he put Rutt, Riley, and Cam Brown. Well I think Rutt and Riley are the more physical types that can outmuscle guys in front of the net, down low, etc... I was happy with how Rutt and Riley did on the penalty kills tonight. Also, Brown can take faceoffs and give you an element of speed/quick for trying to hassle guys up between the dots. Maybe this is the philosophy.
