Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

The way this winter is going so far, folks going to Frozen fenway best know how to dress for the cold. Imagine a night like last night sitting outside for a few hours, brutal
Here's the play... Head to The Baseball Tavern (Boylston St near Fenway) at 3pm, watch UMLowell vs Northeastern on NESN at 3 while enjoying a beverage of your choice. Five minute walk over to Fenway at 6:15-6:30. No way Maine-BU starts on time. Watch the Black Bears take apart a struggling BU club, and Bob's your uncle. Sound good?

As a UVM fan who is lucky enough to have UVM take 3 of 4 from Maine (and your other wins boost UVM's RPI and PRW standings) I wish you guys a hell of a 2nd half. Hope you go on a hot streak and do some damage..

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

...I've sat outside relatively motionless for several hours in similar frigid conditions, not that pleasant but certainly possible...

Certainly a departure from your huge flat panel and comfy couch in your office.... :D

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Does anyone know if there is going to be a block of rooms saved at the Hotel that the players are staying at for Maine fans who wish to spend the night in Boston. Two years ago they had a special rate for Maine fans at the Royal Sonesta. My son in law and myself stayed there and took the MBTA to fenway which was convenient..thanks

Better book early, they are doing some major construction at the Sonesta and rooms are limited.

Have inquired of one of the managers at the Royal Sonesta. He is a Maine grad and formerly associated with the hockey team. Will post here when he responds.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

And that, my friends, is coaching.

Maine is 13th in the country in goals per game (3.44) and 10th in team defense (2.19 gpg allowed). Last season, Maine finished 57th in offense (2.03 gpg) and 29th in defense (2.74 gpg allowed).

The penalty minutes are way down, from 14.5 per game a year ago (11th highest) to 8.6 this season (55th).

Maine’s special teams also are significantly better. The power play is ranked 26th at 20.3 percent compared with last season’s 13.7 percent (51st) and penalty-killing is 18th best (84.4 percent) after being 39th a year ago (81 percent).

Check out Maine's HE stats...

Gigantic improvement over last season, UVM and all.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

I'm finally getting around to watching "Out of the Woods" and it was quite a shock to see such a young Red Gendron.

It's on YouTube in its entirety by the way.

Re: Maine Hockey 2013-2014 - Red Light District

Jumping ahead a little, the USCHO site shows Maine-Quinnipiac on 1/3/14 on NESN at 7 PM. The Hockey East composite TV schedule lists nothing on NESN that night. Anyone know which is correct?

I just watched the whole show... 10 of 10. Good stuff.

That being said... Go Eagles! :p

Brian Flynn just scored a beautiful shorthanded goal on the backhand against the Bruins.

Yeah, nice shot. Got tix for the saturday night game against the Sabres again. Corporate electrical contractor seats....we see what they're like.:)
