Re: Maine 2018, 2019 Footba, I mean hockey thread.

The 4th line is and has been awful almost all season. I agree that they are seemingly pinned in the D zone within 15 seconds of taking the ice, no matter where they start. I feel bad for Quinlivan as I think he plays reasonably well as an individual most games but hes just stuck with Hock and aPerez. Speaking of Perez, I think the reason he plays so much is he's a good "room guy" and is well-liked among the players, even though he's painful to watch, based on what I know and have heard about the team anyways.

I think Quinlivan does very well, Perez is a D+ skater and just doesn't move fast enough to keep up at this level. Hock is decent in my book, just seems nervous/might have hands of stone. I'm curious as to why they don't try Lindelow/Pieper/Holesinsky. Holesinsky especially as he dominated in the NAHL.

Maine grabbed some stray points in this week's poll.

Re: Maine 2018, 2019 Footba, I mean hockey thread.

Doesn't seem like a good move by detroit.
Nyquist is a Free Agent at the end of the season...Detroit could resign him this summer, but at the same time he could sign with someone else...so they made a deal to at least get something in case Nyquist does not return. Business move for the hockey team.

Huge game on Saturday. A lot on the line for both teams. I doubt anyone in HE top four wants to host Maine. Win this next one and that final game at Home may be gigantic. Hopefully the Umass boys drink up Friday night given their festivities going on. For Red, park that bus out of town a bit and keep them on a curfew. ;)

Makes sense, their loss!! Dont follow nhl much.

You buying for them? We could start a gofundme to help.
Maybe some Allens or fireball. 🤣

I don't either, but I watch where the Maine guys are, and root for whichever team, after that fact. That league is a revolving-door, and any sense of team-loyalty is folly.

You are on record as saying you want Maine to lose. Because you want Gendron gone. I doubt any Maine fan wants them to lose on the road at Umass. So tell me your loyalties?

Re: Maine 2018, 2019 Footba, I mean hockey thread.

Don’t change a winning team. Maine has done well since they have been together.

Jeez.

Maine scored 3 goals in regulation all weekend long against a bad team. Via a minor miracle, they got 4 points out of the deal... I don't get what's to be excited about quite yet.

You are what the PW says you are, and at #26, Maine is a mile away from the NCAA's.

Some will get on me for this post, but I never root against Maine; I'm just afraid that even a few crumbs -such as we are being fed right now- will result in another cement-headed extension of Red, and even more years of losing or, at best, mediocrity.

Am I alone in thinking this?

You are not alone. But when the boys do well I expect you to understand it.

Here's one for you: "Patriotism is supporting your country all of the time, and your government when it deserves it." (Mark Twain.)

Applies to Maine hockey, too, as far as the administration goes.

I understand your loyalties are to your country. But once in a while it would be great if you said.... **** these boys are doing good. ;)

Let's take from old section8 style.... f em up f em up Umass sucks. ;)

That Robbins is about the best I've seen lately. What a worker. That kid exudes Maine hockey. Man, I want to say to his parents... it was a tough shift but he is winning it. They should be proud of him. I know I would be as a parent.

Kid can play, Todd Jackson comes to mind as a comparison. Thought he would have more goals( I thought most of the players would have more) this year but has been getting some lately. He plays both ends of the ice.

I want them beating UMass for sure, Be a great win. I wouldn't bet on it but it sure would be nice to get some points in Amherst

I believe that if Maine is playing to the top of their potential, they can beat anyone, anywhere. That said, I dont really expect any points. I have a feeling they keep it close, though, and maybe they'll surprise me and muster a tie or even a win.

Having seen umass play they are just leagues better in team play, speed and puck handling skills. Things Maine just doesnt have comparable to as a whole. However these days any team can beat one another on a given night. Maine just doesnt play well consistently enough and is too sloppy to beat em again, IMO, even though they have played well lately. Hope Im wrong.

I think a win against BU is a real possibility.

You SHOULD beat BU, especially at home. :)

But in all seriousness, here are the numbers:

TeamGFGA
BU5857
Maine5854

[th]

[/th]
[tbody]

[/tbody]

BU is exactly the type of team someone was talking about above...low scoring that will keep other teams in the game.
