Re: Maine 2012 - The Good, the Bad, or the Ugly??
The 1992-93 Black Bears were the greatest college hockey roster ever assembled. Mike Machnik of Merrimack famously wrote that there were players sitting next to him in the press box that would be starters for the Warriors. Of the 22 players who played 20+ games that season, all 22 played at least one game as a professional with eight making it to the NHL.
On Shawn's last team in 2000-01, 15 of 19 (79%) players who were in 20+ games played professional hockey. On the 2008-09 roster, 13 of 21 (62%) played professionally. In the 17 seasons Shawn coached Maine we sent 33 players to the NHL. In the eight years of data available for Tim (players on the 09-10 roster are still at Maine) we have nine NHL players.

Um...right.Maine Hockey was the best fantasy in the country a little more than a decade ago too, and on several occasions it has been in the top 4, fantasy wise, much more recently. Maine Hockey swept the best team in the country last year at home too --not bad for a FANTASY! As Edgar Allen Poe once eloquently said: all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream; so you might as well take the good with the bad and enjoy it!
