Re: Maine 2012 - Take 2. If This Ain't the Bottom...
As for tickets to this game, they're through Ticketmaster so a seating map like at UMaine is unavailable, but "Best Available" single ticket is center ice, 20th row. Two seats is front row down in the corner, four seats is 19th row in another corner. No idea how they calculate what is the "best available" but I can't understand why anyone would blindly buy tickets like this online. Go to the box office or to a local TM location and pick your seats. I'd be interested to find out if the Civic Center counts the tickets they gave away to local youth hockey leagues to sell as being sold by the Civic Center. That could inflate attendance quite a bit. I'm thinking the crowd will be about the size of a midweek Pirates game against someone other than Manchester or Providence.
I don't think I've even gotten an email telling me that there even is a game. I got two in two days telling me about some basketball game in a month that's going to be on ESPN3 (I wonder if folks in Orono realize that's not a real channel, but the Internet) and features some sort of beach promotion for some reason (because nothing says "beach weather" like Orono, Maine in January).I don't think they sell beer for the UMaine games. I will say the U has done zero marketing for this game. In years past there was always a little bit of promotion leading up to the Portland game. I haven't even heard the local sports guys on TV or radio mention it. Too bad. I wouldn't expect a big crowd.
